Three hundred feet from the ocean shore, and it's a real home away from home. Miles of beaches are a short block from this wonderful large private deluxe Studio Cottage. Old Hawaiian families have lived in this charming neighborhood long before the first hotels made the beaches of South Maui an exciting destination. This private spot offers you privacy and quiet, yet close walking distance to beaches, shops, and great restaurants.

The Studio is a 420 square feet with eighteen feet of windows on the north side, (it's a former Artist's Studio) with total privacy from huge hedges and palms. It has fourteen ft. open- beam ceilings, front door off the driveway and sliding door on to the lush courtyard and hot tub. There is a large lanai porch with comfortable quality wicker furniture.

A hot tub sits next to your lanai porch in the courtyard, with orchids, mature palms, and covered picnic table and gas bbq. As you relax surrounded by lush palms and tropical plants with a towering Royal Poinciana shade tree over the courtyard, you finally feel you are on Maui. Lots and lots of tropical birds in the tall trees coo and whistle to welcome you..

It's been a long trip and a long day but you'll feel immediatley welcome and "at home". Your fully equipped kitchen, large hot shower, and comfortable bed invite you to kick back and shake off the "jet lag".
Soak in the hot tub, massage away those weary travel aches, or walk down to the water and stick your toes in the warm tropical Pacific.
The décor is one of local island style with lots of rattan, wicker, Hawaiian art, flowers, and comfy pillows. The fan quietly whirls overhead; The sun sets in to the western shore at the end of the street. Grab a beach chair and a cold drink and walk down to watch the Maui sunset.

In the morning you may choose from golf, (Elleaire golf course up the road, five more courses a few miles away,) snorkeling,public courts or perhaps some tennis in Kalama park a block away; or maybe take some surfing lessons at Kalama park. You realize that you don’t really need to drive to get around Kihei. You can walk or bicycle as all the shops, activities, and many award-winning restaurants are so close by.

Or maybe you will just stay home. The room is very large, airy and cool. You have two private entrances, air conditioning, fan, cable TV with DVD and HBO, Wireless access,CD player, phone, washer and dryer, hair dryer, and a full kitchen with dishwasher, microwave, blender, gas stove, refrigerator, and other appliances.

The kitchen and bath are both new; the bath has a roomy double shower. It is very well equipped. The décor is Hawaiian style with rattan and wicker furniture, a comfortable new rattan queen bed, and a new rattan futon couch/bed with a thick mattress.

You have also found chairs, mats, cooler, boogie boards, snorkel and fins, and beach towels for your beach excursions. Off street parking at the bottom of your steps. Now you are ready to have a real vacation.

Our Property: We have been here for 30 yrs and have done our best to save and lvingly restore this 1927 Plantation home and keep everything in the old way, as we discovered it in the 70's.

We will work hard at making your visit to Maui a fabulous holiday. There are so many more activities, and dining, shopping and cultural events than ever before, so this is the place to have a cool private oasis in the midst of all the amenities of bustling Kihei, a great tropical beach town.

  • We have stayed with Tonia and Steve for three years now and it just keeps getting better and better! The location is perfect - you can walk to the beach, the store, the library, the pharmacy, the theater and of course, many fine eateries! Plus, there are all the TOYS! Bikes, kayaks, snorkel equipment, beach chairs and mats, surf and boogie boards! We will be back!

  • February 2008. Quite the find, very comfortable, excellent access to the beach and other amenities, centrally located. Our hosts were delightful and imformative. The best equipped place we've ever stayed in. All the kitchen accessories, bath towels and beach equipment you'll need, are available for personal use. As well as a very comfortable bed. We highly recommend this relaxing cottage and look forward to another visit in the future.

We lacked for nothing and needed nothing except to make the days longer. The birds were a joy to watch, the hot tub was so relaxing after a day of non stop fun.   • The "Beach Courtyard Cottages" was the perfect setting for our 38th Wedding Anniversary trip. Steve & Tonia have made these very private accomodations a true "home away from home". There is so very much attention to detail and comfort, and we immediately felt welcome with fresh flowers, welcome basket of goodies and cold drinks in the refrigerator. After each long day of non-stop activities, including our vow renewal on the beach, we couldn't wait to get back to the "studio" to soak in the hot tub, just like at home, and watch the dozens of birds in the feeder outside our window. We lacked for nothing, except maybe more time to spend there, and we can't wait to go back. This was our best vacation ever, in the best place ever.

Steve and Tonia are such delightful people and have managed to create the perfect tropical vacation hideaway. We loved the decor, privacy, and ideal location. I had the opportunity to see some of the other places that I considered while planning our trip. All I can say is that I made an excellent choice! We are already talking about returning to Maui.   • Steve and Tonia have taken great care and given thoughtful consideration to the many amenities and warm hospitality for their guests. This cozy and secluded cottage, nestled in a sweet little neighborhood, is truly a home away from home. Located in Kihei, it is the perfect location- easy to navtigate from to all other parts of the island, beautiful beaches only a short distance away and extremely convenient to affordable (but fantastic) shopping and dining. The studio cottage is definitely a 5-Star accomodation for those who enjoy vacationing outside of boring, sterile, overcrowded resorts! We absolutely cannot wait to visit again! Many thanks to the Baney's for sharing their little piece of paradise on Maui and providing such a special part of our wonderful honeymoon vacation!
