Gonzales house description
This 100 year old classic Greek-revival Mansion is NOT a B&B, but a rare opportunity to enjoy a little Texas history and charm.
Our fully furnished 5,000 square foot mansion has 5 bedrooms & 3 1/2 bathrooms. Four of the rooms are located upstairs and the fifth room is downstairs. Three of our bedrooms offer private access to adjacent bathrooms and all of our suites have a flat screen TV, sitting area, Wi-Fi and 12 foot ceilings with a historical feel unlike any of the other modern venues. The entire house is covered in its original hardwood floors.
In the downstairs of the home, which we refer to as our 'museum' section has several 100 year old antiques, a chandelier and even a piano for our musically talented guests and their entertainment. Our family room has leather furniture with a 'oil mans' historical motif look that sets directly off the 500 square foot covered patio overlooking the sparkling pool.
Other amenities include a fully stocked kitchen, dinning room, living room, two sets of washer/dryer (upstairs & downstairs) and an oversized private yard, and pool (not heated). Our kitchen has ample flatware and cooking utensils for 20 people and a second refrigerator for those extra beverages. If you are preparing to cook a holiday dinner or host a large group, there is a double oven and formal dining room that comfortably seats 12 people.
This beautiful home sits on an acre of meticulously manicured lawn, which is canopied by 100 year old oak trees.
So...if it's your afternoon tea party, family reunion, wedding or your weekend long corporate event for large groups of people (20-300) the Gonzales Venue is your solution!
We are here to create 'FOREVER MEMORIES' for you, your family and friends!
For your wedding party, the home can be easily divided into a separate bridal and grooms quarters; for the bride we have a luxurious bridal room with a wedding gown fitting stage as well as a full length mirror. This house has Antique furnishings that the mothers and grandmothers will absolutely love! Also, located on the second floor is a bridal gown stage/viewing area.
Downstairs the groom and his entourage can enjoy relaxing and reminiscing about good times in the comfortable living room with leather furniture and an oil industry motif. A poker table as well as an adjacent swimming pool and BBQ pit is all they will need while preparation for the days festivities.
This stunning mansion was also purchased with the idea of addressing the local housing needs of the recent OIL AND ECONOMIC BOOM. We provide a better solution than a hotel for your long term (corporate groups) stay if you are in need of 3-7 rooms to accommodate 3-14 folks. We are happy to cater to your specific needs, such as creating the perfect room for your office/presentational needs as well as adjusting our rooms & number of beds. Please call us directly for an alternate floor plan that may better serve your workforce needs.
HERE'S A LITTLE HISTORY OF OUR HOME:
This beautiful Mansion was built and designed in 1910 by Gonzales entrepreneur, O.B. Robertson. He was an attorney before taking up banking as well as involved in farming and lumber. Robertson's most known endeavor was building a brink company on the banks of the Guadalupe River in Gonzales, first called the Sunset Brick Company, later called 'Gonzales Brick'. You will find most of the building on Gonzales Square of this brick.
This breathtaking jewel is located on a beautifully manicured acre of natural beauty on the edge of the official Texas historical museum district. The elegant entrance opens onto one of the most historic residential avenues in the state of Texas – the avenue of ancient oaks where Sam Houston, his troops, and the population of Gonzales heroically marched to Texas victory and independence in 1836.
Gonzales, the home of “Come and Take It” the battle cry where the first shot of the Texas revolutionary war happened, is an irresistible, carefully planned canvas of historic homes, churches and museums, of public parklands and playgrounds, just ten minutes south of interstate 10 on an inviting stretch of hwy 183 as it winds its way to the Texas coast.
A short one-hour drive time to Austin and San Antonio and a little more to Houston and the gulf coast, Gonzales is among the most desirable locations in the state.
In the heart of the eagle ford shale oil and gas activity, economic indicators place Gonzales as one of the wealthiest rural counties in the nation within the next five years. With its charming 19th century storefronts, five texas history museums, and avenue upon avenue of elegant historic homes, the quality of life opportunity and economic potential of life in Gonzales today is unparalleled.

If you're looking for a charming venue, look no more! This historic home in historic Gonzales is wonderful for entertaining! The large back yard which features enormous oak trees allowed plenty of shade to set up tables and chairs outside. It was easy to accommodate guests inside and out with the adjoining patio and pool that was utilized to the fullest extent. The owners were both friendly and helpful from the moment we reserved the home through our stay. We would recommend this place to anyone and look forward to entertaining there again real soon!

My family and I had a wonderful visit to this historic Mansion this past week. Chris and Roxana were especially accommodating to our late booking and called to make sure every detail was taken care of. This is a beautiful home set on a picturesque lot with a resort like pool. We spend most of our days in the pool with meat on the grill and cold drinks in hand. The historic driving tour was a great way to see all the century old mansions in this quaint Central Texas town. I would certainly recommend this home for a family gathering, special occasion, or just a few days away.

Absolutely beautiful home and just what our family needed and much more. My husband, two sons and I spent a relaxing spring weekend in this beautiful historic home. This mansion was immaculate as well as furnished with an antique style throughout, large comfortable bedrooms, a fully stocked kitchen and flat screens in every room. I truly enjoyed sitting on the spacious covered back porch watching my family of boys play tackle football in the the backyard while grilling and enjoying the luscious scenery. The oversized pool was a huge hit for my 9 & 11 year old sons, even though the water was a bit cool this time of year it didn't stop them from taking a swim. Just a few blocks away we visited historic downtown Gonzales and the highlight for my boys was the tour of old jail built in 1887 located in the Chamber of Commerce building. I would highly recommend this home for any occasion and it would be a fabulous location for my next family reunion. We look forward to coming back soon!

Absolutely Lovely and Comfortable Home
Absolutely Lovely and Comfortable Home
My husband and I and our 10-year-old son thoroughly enjoyed our weekend in this beautiful home. Staying in this gracious home is a step back in time, a slower time of coffee on the porch and wine poolside in the afternoon. And at the same time, it is filled to the brim with modern amenities - flat screen TVs, a well-stocked and spacious kitchen, and delightfully comfortable and new bedding and mattresses. This is a wonderful place for big sprawling groups or smaller groups like ours. I have a vision of coming back and filling all five bedrooms with family and friends, hanging out by the pool watching kids swim, cooking treats in the kitchen, and heading into town for some music. A great venue and/or destination!
