My home is a cozy 2-story cottage with calm dignity, situated on quiet street only a short walking distance from the charming village of Villeneuve-les-Avignon, and only a 7-min. cab ride from the Avignon TGV 'bullet' Train Station. It's by design a modest place, full of simple pleasures, and seems like a little piece of paradise to me, with Spanish tile roof, thick walls covered in vine keeping you cool inside, and hand-crafted wrought iron pergolas over the front and back terraces for shade and quiet meals. Set back from the public street on a private driveway, the place is safe and private, convenient for coming and going, exploring Provencal landmarks and cultural attractions in Avignon, St. Remy, Orange, Arles or Nimes. In our village, there are open-air markets with magnificent fruits and vegetables, bakeries, pharmacy, post office, several cafés and some decent restaurants. There's also public bus transportation to and from Avignon. In back of the place is a 20-foot stone wall originally built in Medieval times that runs between my strawberry garden and a protected public park that is chock full of Mediterranean pines and olive trees, bathing everything in a serenity that's only interrupted by bird songs. There is a jacuzzi on the rear terrace. The home has 2 floors, and each one is an independent living unit for 4 guests. The upstairs apartment has a master bedroom, study, living room, a full kitchen, and modern shower/bathroom with washing machine & private toilet. The downstairs apartment has a master bedroom, a full kitchen, a living room and modern shower/bathroom with washing machine & private toilet. Both apartments have flat-screen TVs with scores of stations available, including CNBC. All windows have been upgraded with double panes to resist the sometimes rowdy Mistral winds that blow down the Rhone Valley. There is wifi for the entire home which reaches both the front and back terraces for easy access. Picnic tables are set up on both terraces for intimate meals, day or night. The back terrace also includes a complete 'Roman' outdoor shower. The place is redolent with the aroma of thyme, laurel, lime blossom and pine. The home is ideally situated in the heart of Provence to explore all the region's cultural and culinary attractions or have a reflective home stay, cooking with great ingredients, listening to music, enjoying meals with family and friends on either of the home's shady terraces, not to mention cool siestas.

Double the basic rates when 6-8 guests are occupying BOTH Master and Guest Apartments on the property, however, these "full capacity" rentals will be negotiated on a case-by-case basis.

This is the heart of Provence, perfect for discovering Avignon, St. Remy, Arles, Nimes, Marseille, Orange, and the Luberon. My place is located across the Rhone River from Avignon in a peaceful village next to a national park, which is full of Mediterranean pine trees and olive trees, blanketed by blissful silence. The local village is a 5-minute walk away, where there are open-air markets with magnificent fruits and vegetables, bakeries, a post office, several cafés and some decent restaurants. There's public transportation in the village as well to nearby Avignon, which is a major European cultural attraction, with museums, festivals, and live dance and music performances all year long.

About the owner: I am an American, with a French passport as well. I have undergraduate and graduate degrees from US universities, and now work in film post-production in New York, as well as a literary agent. As much as my busy professional life permits, I try to come back to my Provencal home for short, but always delightful stays.
Why the Owner Chose Avignon: For many years, I lived year-round in my Provencal home before re-locating to the East Coast of the US because of professional obligations. The property is very special to me, as I trust it will be to my guests, because of its wonderful location next to a beautiful park and close to a lovely unblemished village that is proud of its heritage, and not far from state-of-the-art rail and air transportation. In sum, my home is situated in a seemingly magical location, blessed with a great macro-climate and tranquility, right in the heart of Provence! And there's a new jacuzzi to relax in at the end of the day!
