Hi Bridgett Just wanted to drop a note to say thank you. The apartment was just super, so well equipped and the pick up and drop off went smoothly. We thoroughly enjoyed our short stay in Budapest and realised that there was a lot more to see than we managed. We also found that it was very walkable too and the location of the apartment could not have been better. It was good to meet up with you and Brendan. Our very best wishes. Hello Bridgett, Just wanted to say thank you for letting us use your lovely apartment. We were all very comfortable. We had a lovely time in Budapest in spite of the unseasonable weather! The wedding venue, the dress and the church have all been chosen, we had a look at a few apartments, but no decisions have been made yet, I may be in touch again as the position was fantastic for getting around. Thanks again, best wishes CaroleDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

If you're looking to rent an apartment in the best location look no further! This is a big 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms apartment in central Budapest. It's beautifully furnished, very clean and well maintained with all the amenities you need for your stay. You can walk to many of the famous attractions from here, or take the public transport (metro, trams, buses all within a few minutes walk). There are several restaurants, bars, clubs around the area - in fact we wished we could have stayed longer to try them all! Thank you Bridgett, we had a fabulous time and we will be back in your apartment next year!Owner response: We are very lucky to have an apartment in the best part of Budapest - such a special and beautiful city!

Hi Bridgett, Had a lovely time in Budapest. The apartment was fab, it had everything in it that we could wish for, with great local amenities and so close to many of the things we wanted to see! Jacqueline and I walked our socks off, the few days that we were there and both came home with throbbing feet!! Our timing was pretty good as well, as the Christmas market was setting up on the day we arrived and was in full swing, by the Friday night! So we a some good fun trying to find some stocking fillers for Christmas that would fit in our luggage ... lots of choice! Thanks and Regards MargaretDid you find this review helpful? Hi Bridgett Just wanted to let you know that we had a wonderful time in your apartment in Budapest. My brother especially loved its old world elegance. It was in a great location and we liked the Italian restuarant you recommended so much that we had 2 dinners there and 1 lunch! Attila was also very helpful. Thank you again - we will recommend your apartment to any others going to Budapest! Regards Ros & RobDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

Everything you could want in a holiday flat

I can’t say enough about this flat. It’s everything you could want in a holiday flat. It is in a historical building (the same architect designed the nearby St. Stephen’s Basiica) with a lovely courtyard. It is very large, with an enormous foyer and two very good sized bedrooms and bathrooms. Although it is furnished with antiques, the kitchen and bathroom are new and modern, with beautiful basins, tiling in the shower and an extra big tub in the master suite. I particularly liked the 15 ft (at least) ceilings and the big wooden shutters on the windows. They not only provided privacy and kept the flat cool, but added a lot of atmosphere to the experience. All the modcons were provided and I must say it was one of the cleanest flats I have ever rented. The neighborhood is both pleasant and convenient, right around the corner from beautiful St. Stephens, with lots of great restaurants. Bridgett, the “landlady” was absolutely terrific-quick to respond to any request and arranged for our pickup and dropoff at the airport. Great place!Did you find this review helpful? Dear Bridgett, safely back from B'pest and Gyor and we were really thrilled with the flat and all your helpful arrangements. Attila was perfect (slightly pleased not to be going on a very long trip with him in view of the constant chat!) Our evening at Tosca was truly superb - a really excellent production; FokanovAnatolij was perfect as Scarpio (and I did see Tito Gobbi yrs ago!) and we loved Ralik Szilvia as Tosca, so elegant and beautiful as well as lovely voice. We also went to a student's concert at the Liszt Academy; swam at Gellert; cakes at Gerbaud; terrible touristy concert at St. Stephen's reasonably good musicians but terminally impossible accoustic - tell all your guests not to go; and loads more fun. Aren't Hungarians the most enchanting people...so polite. Thank you again hugely for all your help Best Regards, ConstanceDid you find this review helpful? Yes | No Helpful votes: 0/0

About the owner: Myself (Bridgett Gill) and my partner (Brendan Wheatley) are in our late fifties and involved in the world of opera. We run Swansea City Opera, a mid scale opera company which tours all over the UK, and also Opera Box, well known for its smaller shows and outdoor performances of opera. Both are registered charities. The history, culture and love of music of the Hungarian people were a great influencing factor in our decision to buy a classical apartment in Budapest. We were looking for an investment for our retirement and had planned to visit three countries before making our choice, but after seeing the beauty of Budapest and finding the Hungarian people so friendly and welcoming, we decided to look no further. We hope you love the city us much as we do!
Why the Owner Chose Budapest:
Because we live in a very old cottage in Wales and love historic houses, we were looking for a building and apartment that had history and original features. We think we have found the perfect apartment and have completely renovated and restored it with a lot of love and thought. As well as being in a beautiful building, designed by Budapest's second most famous architect -Joseph Hild, the apartment is close to all forms of public transport, and central to all the tourist attractions and the Opera House. In addition, because we love good food and wine, we chose a location with good restaurants close by! By the way I can heartily recommend Hungarian wine, not a lot of it is sold abroad as they keep most of it for themselves!
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
We took our time over renovating our apartment because we wanted to preserve the old Hungarian character whilst having all the advantages of modern living. We explored the fascinating antique come flea market on the outskirts of Budapest, called Ecseri, where we found our original light fittings and door handles, and visited many auction houses to buy original pictures and furniture that we then restored. When we bought our apartment in 2007 the courtyard and grand, classically arched interior of the house were still in a rather dilapidated state, the courtyard is now completely restored and redecorated. It looks fantastic and I know I shouldn't, but I feel very proud!
