Manchester Center apartment description
When you park your car in our lot and climb the stairs to the Gallery 47 Guest Apartment you enter a space in downtown Manchester that is unlike anything else around. For our guest apartment is a new kind of destination in our area that is an affordable and delightful break from the hotels, motels, B&B’s, and private country homes that one finds everywhere.
The Gallery 47 Guest Apartment is located on the second floor of a grocery store that thrived in the early 20th century when Manchester’s Historic Depot District was the local rail head and the most happening place in town. Now under the process of complete renovation, but first built around 1880, the grocery – located at 47 Highland Avenue corner of Elm -- was called the Arrowhead Store and it was operated by Grace and Edward Abrahamson until it closed many years ago. The store sold tinware, cigars, candy, groceries, and everything the residents and business people in the thriving commercial area needed. Ed and Grace lived upstairs in what Nancy Burzon – wife of Steve Burzon, owner of the Garden Arts Landscaping Store and Studio on the first floor of the same building – has turned into one of the most charming, eclectic, and comfortable three bedroom apartment rentals anywhere.
Similar to a luxury hotel with crisp linens and sheets, new beds, a flat screen TV for films, Wifi, and outstanding local artwork, the Guest Apartment is so much more. There is a brand new efficiency kitchen, a dining room, a living room, spacious bedroom closets, a mud room, and ample storage for ski and sports equipment. There is a sweet butler’s kitchen stocked with enough plates, platters, and tableware to easily accommodate a full house of 5 guests and even a few small children who can sleep on a roll-away or on the comfy sofa. The three bedrooms – one bath - include a queen bed, a full size bed, and a twin-sized bed. The space is roomy and light. For the warm weather there is a shaded, screened-in, covered porch out back (under renovation) to use for relaxing or open air dining.
In the dining room, there is a marble table that can seat six to eight. This also makes the Guest Apartment useful for a meeting space for a small group. Meals or refreshments can be served from the kitchen and butler’s pantry; and your group can use the business facilities of the Landscaping Store downstairs for copying or faxing materials. If necessary, the entire building can be used for your event. In its previous incarnation as an art gallery, show openings were often gala occasions with the opening party spanning both floors.

- Manchester’s Historic Depot section is resurgent having been the recent beneficiary of a multi-million dollar infrastructure upgrade overseen by Town Government. Water, sewage systems, and street lighting were upgraded and a convenient new Municipal Parking Lot was constructed right next door to the north side of the building. Guests in our apartment will enjoy its great location…walking to wonderful restaurants where one can find a gourmet meal or a quick sandwich. Manchester’s famous outlet shopping is only a block away. Or folks can explore the one-of-a-kind shops and food stores in the immediate neighborhood specializing in hand-made women’s clothing, hand-blown glass, imported rugs, Italian food specialties, antiques, yarns, paintings, and all manner of goods and services. One can take a walk across the street and hire an architect, buy a house, or receive initial free consulting for a complete whole house renovation. And all one has to do is to walk down a flight of stairs to enter the showroom space of the Garden Arts Company where there lives a world of ideas for landscaping, fencing, masonry, ponding, and everything else beautiful outside....moreless

This was the perfect place for our small group of teachers looking for a getaway. We were able to walk to outlet shopping and restaurants. The home was cute and perfect for our needs. We had a great time and look forward to returning!

Just the Job!
Just the Job!
We stayed at this rental for 3 nights as part of a short holiday from UK, driving around New England in the Fall. For our two couples it was ideal; spacious, clean, comfortable and full of character. We were looking for rentals which were better value than hotels and this one certainly was. We used it as a base to explore this part of New England and it was a great location: close enough to restaurants, shops & highways but set in a very quiet spot of a picturesque town. Booking/communication stuff was easy, friendly and efficient. Good people.

What a wonderful find! We were in Manchester for a girl's weekend and this apartment proved to be the perfect place. It is the ideal location for the area. We were able to visit Dorset, Weston, and Bennington during our visit. Enjoying each one more than the last. Nancy and Steve are very friendly and accommodating. They made sure that all our needs were met. The apartment looked exactly like the pictures and was VERY clean. We very much enjoyed our stay and cannot wait to return.

My husband and I were in Manchester for a wedding a few weeks ago and fell in love with this apartment. It was very charming and cozy! Communication was very easy with Nancy and Steve, who went to great care to show us around the apartment, get us settled in and help us feel at home. They made it a priority to make sure we had everything we needed. We loved being able to walk to the market next door, and other local shops and restaurants. Equinox resort, hiking, and the Quarry were among some of our favorite near by attractions. We can't wait to stay there again some day!

Why the Owner Chose Manchester Center:
We renovated this space in 2012-13 with the goal of having an in-town apartment, much like we used to have in Greenwich Village when we lived in NYC and Connecticut. We wanted comfort but a sense of personal style as well.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment:
We love being able to walk out the door to find some of the best and most interesting dining and shopping in Manchester within the block. We are child and pet friendly.
