The home has lots of comfortable nooks to relax in. The private walled yard is a great place to soak up the ample Arizona sunshine. You may never want to leave the property, as the views of the Whetstones to the East, wilderness of the Empire Cienega to the north & Biscuit Mountain to the south are magnificent. The night skies are alive with stars - probably more than you have seen in years.
A short drive will take you to the world-famous bird-watching areas of Ramsey Canyon or the Patagonia Bird Sanctuary, as well as historic Tombstone, Bisbee & Benson. Parker Canyon & Patagonia Lakes are about 45 minutes & 30 minutes away, respectively. Elgin Wine country is only five miles from the home.

The Unique Benefits at this House
This home really lets the creative juices flow with it's great energy & is a favorite for artists & musicians. Hiking opportunities abound on the Empire Cienega Ranch to the north where you are sure to spot some unique wildlife & may even luck into finding an arrowhead or worked stone. Being within 30 minutes of Sierra Vista allows easy access to the large chain grocery stores if you like to prepare your own meals, but at the edge of wilderness when returning to the property. It really is the best of both worlds here.

I have owned this home since it was built in the early 1980's and it is very dear to my heart. I like to say that we were "green before green was cool" because it was built with energy efficiency in mind & to take advantage of the southern exposure for light & heating. The thick rammed-earth walls (like adobe, but compacted in place) make it very comfortable in all seasons with a wonderful "energy" which I love to share with my many happy guests. Renting it as a vacation rental is not only a great way to share the house with others, but allows me to keep it "in the family" to hopefully pass down someday. My two sons grew up in the home & it proved to be a very creative & interesting environment for them. They still enjoy helping during the summers with maintenance & caring for trees which are huge now, but were planted as seedlings. It is truly a special property in a location that is quiet & beautiful, but not far from the many activities the Southeastern Arizona area has to offer. If you say here don't forget to bring your dogs as well since they will have a great time too.
