NOTE TO SKIERS: Avalon is over 1 hour from Durango Mountain Resort. Avalon is not recommended for Skiers. If you are seeking a natural, secluded retreat with access to Durango and Farmington, then please call, but we are not recommended for skiers.

Guests at Avalon Acres make easy day trips of Mesa Verde or the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Train. There is also rafting, fishing the many rivers and lakes, hiking, biking, or kayaking. The choices are endless.

When your busy day is done, come home to Avalon. Hidden in the Florida River Valley. Avalon offers an oasis for the senses and a quiet retreat. Fifteen acres of grounds, half mile of river frontage. Wildlife abounds, and birding is excellent.
Our rental property includes 2 guest houses each with plenty of privacy. You are welcome to rent one or both of our guest houses depending on the size of your party

Why the Owner Chose Durango
For the pure, natural beauty of the property. We both have day jobs. Managing Avalon, spending 4 hours a day landscaping, sharing this lovely place with our guests, all these things are our passion.
The Unique Benefits at this Guest Houses
Closeness to nature, the river, the wildlife, the serenity. Sunsets, sunrise, deer running through the property, bald eagles. Our great neighbors, the Durango Nature Studies group.
We love to have dinners in the Tee Pee and at our many outdoor grilling and picnic locations. A good game of croquet with the family in our lush 3 acre croquet field. Just watching the water roll by from the front porch.
