Guests at Avalon Acres make easy day trips of Mesa Verde or the Durango-Silverton Narrow Gauge Train. There is also rafting, fishing the many rivers and lakes, hiking, biking, or kayaking. The choices are endless.

For the pure, natural beauty of the property. We both have day jobs. Managing Avalon, spending 4 hours a day landscaping, sharing this lovely place with our guests, all these things are our passion.
The Unique Benefits at this house
Closeness to nature, the river, the wildlife, the serenity. Sunsets, sunrise, deer running through the property, bald eagles. Our great neighbors, the Durango Nature Studies group.
We love to have dinners in the Tee Pee and at our many outdoor grilling and picnic locations. A good game of croquet with the family in our lush 3 acre croquet field. Just watching the water roll by from the front porch.

My husband and I stayed here in July of 2011 with both sets of our parents. We stayed in the 3 bedroom rental house. We were utterly amazed at the work the owners had done on the property. Everything was immaculately landscaped and the 'living spaces' they created outdoors for their guests enjoyment just went on and on and didn't end. Fire pits, picnic areas, outdoor games, a labyrinth, a tee pee, swings, sitting areas, etc. If we get a chance to come back to this area, we definitely would stay here again & schedule an entire day just to relax and enjoy their grounds! The rental house was impeccable. Not one detail was forgotten and it was decorated with a great eye, in the style of the area. I felt less like I was renting a house and more like I was a family guest in someone's home. The owners truly have a gift of hospitality & you will be so glad you chose to stay at Avalon Acres!
