Both bedrooms in Casa Istiana are spacious and each has 1x king sized bed and 1x single bed. The large kitchen & dining area has a round table that seats 6-8 people. The salon has 2 excellent sofa-beds and amazing views towards Concepcion volcano. The shared bathroom and toilet is very spacious. The large porch has 2x hammocks, a table w/ chairs and a lounge area with 4 rocking chairs. The roof terrace has comfortbale seats and a plunge pool that allows you to take in a panoramic view that might well be the best you have ever seen ... anywhere! The house, just like all of TOTOCO Eco-lodge, is completely off-grid with solar panels providing all the electricity. All toilets at TOTOCO are daily change composting toilets and the warm water for the shower comes from a thermal solar heater. All grey water is recycled for irrigation. You have free access to the swimming pool at the lodge as well as the ability to eat & drink at TOTOCO's bar & restaurant all of which are a 3 minute walk from Casa Istiana. There is free wi-fi at the main-lodge bar & restaurant.

About the owner: I am part owner and general manager of TOTOCO Eco-lodge which bought Casa Istiana from my friends and former business partners who started TOTOCO with me in 2009. I'm from Holland and have now lived on Ometepe for over 5 years. I'm here with my girlfriend Patricia (from Spain) who runs the TOTOCO Foundation (doing community development work here on the island) and our 1 year old son Hendrix.
Why the Owner Chose Ometepe Island:
Coming to Nicaragua to start a sustainable tourism business has been a dream of mine since 2003 when I first moved to Granada, Nicaragua to better get to know the country and its people. Ometepe in particular caught the attention of my friends and I for being a natural wonder that has an established reputation as an eco-tourism destination. The unique energy of the island will capitavate you as it did us!
