Egremont farmhouse description
Spend July in our beautiful, meticulously updated 1820's colonial farmhouse. With 3 bedrooms (2 upstairs, 1 downstairs), 4.5 baths, a gorgeous eat-in chef's kitchen adjacent to a lovely screened-in porch, you may never want to leave the house. If you decide to go out, you can enjoy our 15 acres, heated swimming pool, mountain views, and the green river (good for fly fishing) that runs through the property. There is also a finished basement that sleeps 4 with a large flat-screen tv and ping pong table. Totally renovated, the house combines vintage charm with modern conveniences such as central air.
The house is located in the heart of the Berkshires, a short (under 10 minutes) ride to Great Barrington, named the best small town in America by Smithsonian Magazine for its charm, the beauty of its setting, interesting restaurants and stores, and commitment to the eat-local movement. The house is 20 minutes from Tanglewood, close to several well-respected summer stock programs, Shakespeare and Company and Jacob's Pillow dance festival.
Bike or hike from the front door, play tennis at the local park, canoe or kayak at nearby Prospect Lake or just lounge by the pool.
The house is available for the month of July.
No groups, please, and no inquiries for less than the full month.

The most perfect house!
The most perfect house!
My husband and I stayed at this most glorious house for a month. We were thinking of buying in the area and wanted to be sure we liked it We loved it so much that we ended up buying our own house...which is the second most perfect house. This house is truly special. It has real charm and all modern conveniences. It was recently renovated with central AC, a eat-in cook's kitchen, a gorgeous screen porch perfect for sipping iced-tea while reading a book or enjoying dinner outside. The house has three bedrooms, all with attached bathrooms. It also has a great finished basement with a large-screen TV perfect for watching movies and TV. There is a full bathroom down there with convertible beds and a ping pong table. The whole house is well equipped and spotless. Did I mention the house has a lovely heated in-ground pool and stone patio with lounge chairs? It does. And the fact that the house is set on 8 manicured acres with access to The Green River? It is. I collected cool rocks with fossils while my husband fished with waders. The fishing permit is $10 at the picture-perfect town hall. We found this the perfect house for relaxing, entertaining and enjoying the surrounding area. Great Barrington, Stockbridge and Lenox are all nearby. Great restaurants, museums, gardens, hiking, theater and music are all close by. Tanglewood and Shakespeare & Co. are an easy 20 minutes away. The owners are lovely and easy to work with. The caretaker lives right across the street and is nice and super-responsive. The only bad thing about this house is that it is so nice that it made it harder for us to find the perfect house. Nothing could compare. We got close but we didn't get a pool or river access. If we hadn't bought a house, we'd be renting this one again!

About the owner: My husband and I live on the Upper West Side in New York City. We love the city, but think of our Berkshires home as a little paradise. It's beautiful, the cultural life in the area is exciting, there is an endless variety of outside activities, the restaurants are excellent, and the stores (both antique shops and stores selling contemporary merchandise) carry interesting and unique items.
Why the Owner Chose Egremont:
We think our home is ideal as it combines the beauty of a 200-year-old colonial farmhouse with all the conveniences of a modern home. It is beautifully situated at the top of a hill, with views of mountains and a large meadow that leads to the Green River. The river is beautiful and peaceful. We like to sit on the banks and on hot days dunk ourselves in it.
