About the owner: We purchased this architect designed home and have maintained it in pristine condition. We live on the north shore of Boston and have enjoyed every summer on Great Pond. Our hope is that our renters will love our home and the area as much as we do.
Why the Owner Chose Belgrade Lakes:
This is a fabulous home, well appointed and designed by a renowned Boston area architect Art Dioli. Mr. Dioli is also a summer resident of Belgrade and a principal at the firm of Olson & Lewis. Lake activities are abundant. Fishing off the dock can land a small mouth bass sometimes within a few minutes. Short walk from our road leads to hiking and small mountain climbing perfect for younger children. Belgrade Lakes Golf Course nearby has been ranked in top 100 courses you can play by Golf Digest. The area is noted for organic farmer markets, country fairs, great dining, shopping, sailing & day tripping to near by Boothbay Harbor, Freeport and the Kennebec River.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Everything about this house is special. The mattresses are new, the linens are high quality, the furniture is well selected and ample. Two leather sofas flank the large stone fireplace. A plasma flat screen is set up for the technophiles as well as cable and high speed internet. There is a tiny playroom just for kids with chalk board walls, chairs, books, games, puzzles and two set of bunk beds.
There is a yard in the back perfect for badminton and other sports with a large meadow behind. Beautiful wildlife, including an occasional moose or fox will be glimpsed. The bird life is incredible....eagle pairs swoop over our dock, hummingbirds bath in the spray of a garden hose, hawks, falcons and osprey patrol the sky. Sunrise over the lake and sets behind the meadow. Pick your own wild raspberries, catch fireflies with the kids, explore the funky pub and live music scene, contemplate nature and enjoy napping between activities on the dock. The five lakes in this area are all yours to enjoy. The locals are friendly, helpful and smart. We have an excellent caretaker. Housekeeping, babysitters, boat rentals and riding lessons can all be arranged. You can even opt to do a half/full day program at The Center for All Seasons for the kids. Located minutes from the house, the kids can have swim lessons, organized sports, wonderful field trips, canoes, and day camp activities.
