West Yellowstone lodge description
The Otter Lodge occupies one of the most unique locations in the U.S. Its five acres are situated on a family homestead and the property is fronted by Duck Creek and the Duck Creek pond, both of which offer some of the best blue ribbon trout fishing in the West.
The property is less than 1/4 mile from Yellowstone National Park on its west side, and offers easy access (within 1/4 mile) to both Yellowstone Park and Gallatin National Forest.
This home offers breathtaking views of nature at its finest.
Wildlife Viewing: Duck Creek Retreat and the immediate surrounding area is rich in wildlife, including bison, elk, deer, moose, grizzly bear, black bear, otter, beaver, muskrat, Canadian geese, ducks, trumpeter swan and sandhill cranes.
Fishing: World class fishing is available on private Duck Creek and Duck Creek Pond. A professionally installed fish ladder permits runs of wild brown and rainbow trout from the Madison River and nearby Hebgen Lake. Native brook trout also habitate the Pond and brown trout up to 32 inches have been caught and released. A Montana fishing license is not required to fish on the Pond, but it is on other Montana waters. A Yellowstone Park license is required to fish inside the Park
A wide variety of outdoor activities for all ages in the Yellowstone area are professionally provided by Lava Creek Adventures (406) 646-5145.

Great location - beautiful scenery and close to West Yellowstone!
Great location - beautiful scenery and close to West Yellowstone!
We stayed at the Otter Lodge for three nights while touring Yellowstone National Park. We were pleasantly surprised by the lodge. The owner has taken a lot of care to maintain a nice property with all the amenities (except a hair dryer and we struggled to get the internet to work, but the bed was really comfortable) and it offers beautiful views of a creek, pond, and a pastoral setting. We were lucky enough to see several deer, a couple of beaver, and a bison on the property! We would highly recommend the Otter Lodge to people who want easy access to Yellowstone or who just want to get away from it all. I really wish we had an extra day to relax and enjoy the lodge, and all it has to offer. We would definitely go back and are hoping to soon.

My family stayed in Otter Lodge this past August for a week. The house is in the perfect location, 8 miles north of West Yellowstone directly on Duck Creek and a short walk into Yellowstone National Park. We caught lots of small trout right in front of the house. We cooked out on the grill and used the large firepit for fires at night. The house was comfortable and well equiped. The animal heads everywhere made you reall feel like you were in Montana. No airconditioning was not a problem even in August but the windows were broken and would not open and close properly. I would stay here again if I came back to this part of Montana. Thanks to everyone who we worked with as they were very helpful in every respect.

We stayed here with my friends family. We all enjoyed the place. Fire pit with chairs made the camp fire experience very pleasant. Fully loaded kitchen. Overall good place to stay. Cons: Sectional couch looks very old.
