Inverness cottage description
Bring your bicycle or use ours to travel through parks, natural areas, and small unique towns on the Withlacoochee State Trail which is only 3 blocks from the cottage. Inverness is near the center of the bike trail which is a wide paved 46 mile path. It is the longest paved trail in Florida. Citrus County is called the 'water and nature lovers paradise'. Stay in our quaint cottage one block from Lake Henderson where you will find some of the best fishing in Florida.
Escape to our small town, where you do not have to fight the traffic or wait in long lines for dinner. At the cottage you will be within just blocks from the trail, lake, park, restaurants, shopping and farmers market.
Inverness is the perfect place to stay in Florida where you can get away for the day and see the Orlando theme parks, Tarpon Springs sponge docks, Crystal River Manatees, and wide white beaches.
How about canoeing or tubing down a crystal clear river just 30 minutes away. Like excitement? We have Citrus County Speedway a short distance away.
We have plenty of festivals to keep you busy! The Cooter Festival is every October and Grand Prix races in November. The nearby Strawberry Festival is the first weekend in March. Bikes and BBQ in quaint Floral City is the First Sat in October or step back in time and come to Heritage Days the first weekend in December. At the cottage canoes, bicycles, and fishing gear are provided! Whether you like to sit on the front porch in the rocker or venture out and do things you've never done, Inverness is the place for you! IF THIS COTTAGE IS NOT AVAILABLE ON THE DATES YOU NEED I HAVE ANOTHER NEXT DOOR TO IT. A RECENTLY REMODELED HISTORIC 2BR and 2BA CABIN. #501129

Cozy and Clean
Cozy and Clean
The cottage was very clean and homey. There was such a large variety of things to do we couldn't fit it all into 1 week! The neighborhood is quaint and quiet. I enjoyed sitting in the rocking chair out front in the morning with my cup of coffee. We also used the canoe in the garage and the lake was very peaceful. We also rode bikes on the Withlacoochee trail which was very pretty and nicely shaded by all the beautiful trees covered in spanish moss. There is even and opening close to the cottage where you can watch the sunset. Everything we wanted to do was within a half hour drive (Rainbow River, Scalloping and swimming with Manatees out of Crystal River with River Ventures, Horseback riding at Rymar ranch and the Homosassa Wildlife State Park). The next town over (Floral City) was really cute and had a nice little shop with local produce, a large variety of jarred items (such as honey and moonshine jelly) and Amish cheeses. Also a must visit is Pudgee's in Floral City. The burger is nothing like any burger you have ever had! All driving is on country roads with minimal lights which is really nice. We also visited the Weeki Wachee springs which was about 45 minutes away. The cottage had everything we needed to make our stay as comfortable and enjoyable as possible!

Owner response: Cara , Thank you for taking the time to write such a nice review! I’m happy that you had such a great time at the cottage. It sounds like you packed a lot into one short week! Many people come to Florida for the beaches, but Citrus County is such a hidden gem with so much to offer in the way of ‘ Old Florida’ with the moss draped trees, the crystal clear springs and our awesome Withlacoochee trail. We hope to see you again next year!

What a great place to stay. Although this was not a true "vacation", it was perfect for our needs. Very quiet neighborhood and only a half block to put in the canoe they have or your own canoe or kayak. There are several bikes so you can take advantage of the wonderful trail provided by Citrus County. The beds are WONDERFUL. A very peaceful getaway. The best of both worlds. Close to shopping, good mom & pop diners and restaurant chains. Not far to see the Manatees either!!!

We were completely satisfied with our stay!
The cottage was completely equipped with everything we needed to make our visit enjoyable. We enjoyed the location and took full advantage of the walking/biking trail as well as the lake with the canoe which were all close by. We also enjoyed the city of Inverness with it's quiet and uniqueness and friendly people.

Fabulous Inverness Vacation
Fabulous Inverness Vacation
We had a wonderful stay. The cottage is less than a block from the lake with easy access using the canoe provided. The boat launch is just a little up the road. Rainbow Springs is 25 minutes away and has a great tubing run. Downtown is great with lots of bike trails and parks (visit Cooter pond!). We did 15 miles down the Withlacoochee bike trail. We had our own bikes but the owners had also supplied 4 bicycles for our use as well. In addition they provided a gas grill for us to cook out on. The cottage was very cute, updated and decorated nicely. We had everything we needed and the owner was extremely accommodating. We will definitely be going back!

Owner response: Patricia, I'm happy to hear you and your family had a great time at the Cottage and tubing down the Rainbow River. It is just one of the many crystal clear spring fed rivers in the area. November through March several hundred Manatees migrate from the cool water in the Gulf to the warmer waters at the springs for the winter. National Geographic actually did a feature on the Manatees in Citrus County in their April 2013 issue! Hopefully you will be able to come back when you can see these awesome mammals in their winter home here in Citrus County.

About the owner: We moved to Citrus County in 2007 because we love the 'magic' in this area. With all the lakes and springs here, there is never a shortage of things to do! Inverness is the perfect small town with many opportunities for fun or relaxation.
Why the Owner Chose Inverness:
We bought the cottage because it is close to the Withlacoochee Bicycle/walking trail and Lake Henderson.
