Basye chalet description
My beautiful home has full-height picture windows on both levels overlooking the mountains and forests around, and the nearby Bird Heaven Lake. I enjoy listening to the birds chirping in the morning, and watching the geese returning to next door Bird Haven Lake in the evening to spend the night! You can sit outside on the wrap-around deck, or relax on the swings in the backyard. It is a wonderful place for a romantic getaway, or a peaceful family vacation. Under two-hour drive from Washington DC, while enjoying a scenic drive.
Pie in the Sky is not a commercially furnished and equipped house. I have owned it for many years, and gave it my personal touch which I hope you will like. I love art so the house has a decent number of framed pictures, plates, photographs of US and overseas views. I recently upgraded the flooring to hardwood on the whole upper level, and I love it!
Two highlights of the house are the round black and red fireplace located in the middle of the spacious living room, and the Japanese round soaking tub in the master suite, so relaxing you won't want to leave.
If you like traveling, you can get inspired by my travel books in the family room. In the living room you can look through my art books. Enjoy!
Secluded but not isolated, you will enjoy the quiet and peaceful atmosphere.
As to fun activities, Bryce Resort has much to offer, such as golf, mini-golf, fishing, swimming in pools or in Lake Laura, paddle boating, climbing wall, zipline during the warm season, skiing and tubing in winter.
My favorite activity is hiking, and there is plenty of trails around Bryce, including all the trails you can find on Skyline Drive. This location offers unlimited possibilities and types of trails. If you like to hike, you will be overwhelmed by the choices you have.
Another fun activity is antiquing. Wherever you go in the Shenandoah Valley, you can find amazing antiques.
If you like wine, this area abounds with wineries all around Bryce. Many wineries have tasting events regularly.
A major outdoor event in the summer is the Shenandoah Music Festival that takes place in Orkney, the town next to Bryce, just a few miles away. It includes Classical music, country music, and many other types of music. It is very popular and attracts a lot of music lovers from the Shenandoah Valley.
As to restaurants, there are some in Bryce, as well as many other wonderful ones in the towns nearby along Route 11.
The Shenandoah Valley is also famous for Civil War sites, and famous caverns located not very far from Bryce that you can discover.

Year Purchased: 1988
About: Born and raised in the Middle East, I lived in Lebanon, Cyprus, Greece, then settled thirty years ago in Northern Virginia, a Washington DC suburb, when I enjoyed world travels. Fluent in three languages, for many years I managed international projects for the Middle East and Latin America. and later was involved in Procurement Management for goods and services for local governments. I am now retired and enjoying my two children and three lovely grand children as well as world and US travels.
Twenty five years ago, I read a small advertisement in the Washington Post about Bryce Resort and was intrigued by the description of this four-season resort, so I drove on a weekend to discover it. I did like it a lot so I asked a real estate agent to show me around to get a better idea of the place. She took me around, then she showed me Pie in the Sky. That was it. I could not leave the place. Though I had no plans to buy a vacation home then, but I could not leave. I fell in love with it. I had to buy it, and I did.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
The house is very unique in the fact that it is round. Try to listen to music, you will be amazed how the sonority of the music is reflected in a unique way against the glass windows installed in the round!. All the picture windows are facing the mountain and forest views which is so lovely, and yet very private. It is like no other house. It is lovely and enjoyable.
