The newly remodeled Estate at Chalk Hill is a luxury private residence in the famed Alexander Valley of Healdsburg. With approximately 3,000 square feet of living area and sweeping vineyard views, this 'contemporary rustic' retreat is the perfect place for families and friends to gather, unwind and build traditions. Perched atop a hill, The Estate at Chalk Hill feels wonderfully secluded, yet restaurants, shopping, wineries and a myriad of outdoor adventures are just a short drive away and Windsor and Healdsburg are within 5 and 10 miles, respectively.
Living. The Estate at Chalk Hill is a single level home with an open floor plan and towering beamed ceilings in communal areas. The main living room has a cozy sitting area with an over sized wood burning fireplace. A separate lounge area has a sectional couch facing a large plasma TV with surround sound, a DVD player and iPod connections. The house also has a wireless network for the convenience of guests.
Eating. The dining/kitchen area features another over-sized wood burning fireplace with a dining table that seats 10. The open kitchen has a large island with bar stools, commercial appliances and all of the dinnerware to host an amazing dinner. Should you need a place for the wine you collect during your visit, there is a 42 bottle locker in the dining area.
Sleeping. The Estate at Chalk hill has four bedrooms, one of which is also a multipurpose room perfect for children. The master features a king size bed with a large walk in closet, luxurious master bath and sliding glass door to a deck. The two guest bedrooms have queen beds and overlook vineyards. The second bath has an over sized double shower with a picture window. It adjoins one of the guest bedrooms and can also be accessed from the hallway. The final bedroom is multifunctional, and has two twin beds, a fooz ball table, a plasma tv and is connected to a full bathroom that also houses the washer/dryer.
Lounging & Playing. From every spot on the property you can take in spectacular views of the Alexander Valley and Mt. St Helena. Enjoy the pool during the day (note that it is now fenced for safety), and hot tub at night; a friendly bocce ball match or a game of 'HORSE' at the basketball half court. Small children can enjoy the walk-in playhouse. Or if lounging is what's in order, grab a book and enjoy the sun deck, hammock or porch swing. Beyond the property there are ample hiking and biking opportunities...as well as golf, zip lining, hot air ballooning and more!

The entire experience was first rate starting with communications with the owner prior to arrival and ending a few days after we left. The owner was incredibly responsive to email inquiries and very helpful with identifying local contacts that could help with catering, wine tasting, etc. We celebrated my wife's 40th birthday and we had 7 of her girlfriends come from across the country and everyone of them was scheming for us to celebrate the 1st anniversary of her 40th birthday at the same place (but next time stay longer than 3 nights) The house was better than the pictures show. Incredible views and very private location (literally can not see another house from pool and deck area) and yet only 15 minutes to Healdsburg. This house is not decorated and furnished like I would expect from a rental, everything was incredibly nice and very comfortable. I'd easily take the kitchen and bathrooms in my own home. We plan on renting this place again in the future.Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, families with teenagers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway.

Our expectations were absolutely exceeded in every way. From arriving to an indescribable view, to the pool, hot tub, 3 decks, outdoor grill, open floor plan and beautifully designed interior, we couldn't have asked for any more. The home is impeccably clean and new. This was the perfect location for our group of friends to go to unwind. We will definitely be back. The homeowners are super accommodating and friendly as well! This is a true gem in wine country!Recommended for: Sightseeing, age 55+, romantic getaway, girls getaway.

Additional information about rental rates
As the Estate at Chalk Hill is a family home we do not allow events. No more than 10 people are to stay on the property overnight, with a max of 15 people during the daytime.
50% due at time of booking, with the balance due 30 days before the first day of stay.
We accept checks, wires and Paypal as forms of payment.
Refund up to 100% if written notice of cancellation is provided at least 60 days prior to arrival date.
Additional Fees and Taxes:
In addition to nightly rates, there is a 9% Sonoma occupancy tax, a $250 cleaning fee (which could be a bit higher for groups of 10) and a refundable $1000 security deposit.

About the owner: Our family of four resides in San Francisco, as does our extended family. Healdsburg has always been one our favorites places to escape and explore - it's understated, yet sophisticated. Chic, but not fancy. Right up our alley!
Why the Owner Chose Healdsburg:
We looked at this property when it was for sale several years. We fell in love with the views (as did the VRBO Bear Traveler!), and the aesthetic of the house but the timing wasn't right. After several years off the rental market, we are delighted to be sharing The Estate at Chalk Hill with others again.
The Unique Benefits at this Estate:
Of course we are biased but we can't think of a better gathering spot to build traditions with friends and family. The house is perfect for entertaining and togetherness - open layout, high ceilings, large farmhouse table, several fireplaces. It is both cozy and contemporary.
