Just got back from an absolutely wonderful, memorable long weekend in New Orleans and staying in this apartment was key to the experience. I would highly recommend it for couples - especially if you are looking for a classy, romantic experience without the meh factor of hotel stays. Location wise, it's close to the heart of the French Quarter but away from the madness and noise. Great for exploration, great for sleep. We were able to go back & forth several times during the day easily - nap between excursions, even for restroom breaks. This was a last minute vacation and we planned things on the go - the FQ is really not that big but this location was great for our impulsive decisions. Security is good and the unit is on the 2nd floor of a gated area - making it both safe and private. Taxis are abundant (even at 3.30 am!!) but if you plan to explore beyond the FQ - and I highly recommend that - you would want to have a car for flexibility. Being able to park the car inside the compound and go on a swamp tour, the Garden District, Uptown, City Park, etc. without having to get on crammed trams and on our own schedule was wonderful. You can't do that even at a hotel with valet parking. The unit itself is very nice. The pictures don't do it justice. It's very clean, well appointed and has beautiful furnishings. Special note on the bedroom - the linens were nice and comfortable and this has a HUGE closet - which is great if you are doing a long-term stay. The owners handled the transaction very quickly - a small but nice touch was the water bottles and coffee they had left in the kitchen for us. There is a grocery store nearby but unlike other vacation rentals we have stayed at before, we didn't have to go grocery shopping for essentials as soon as we got there.Recommended for: Age 55+, tourists without a car, romantic getaway, sightseeing.
