OCEANFRONT HOUSE:
Modern (3BR/2BA) built in 1991 and located in a quiet residential Hilo area neighborhood. Fully-equipped and spotlessly clean. The soothing sounds of crashing waves can be heard day and night. A white water coastline is visible from almost every room of the house. This private home is just as comfortable for 2 as at is for 6. Available for nightly, weekly, or extended vacation rental lodging. PLEASE NOTE DISCOUNTED RATES APPLY.
LIVING AREA:
Spacious living and dining areas with vaulted ceilings and fabulous ocean views. Three sliding glass doors open to the ocean front deck spanning the entire width of the house. Leave the doors open and experience the ocean breezes as they flow through the house. Gentle sounds of waves crashing along the Big Island shoreline can be heard with the doors open or closed. At night, step outside and witness clear skies filled with stars. Has large TV, VCR, DVD, Stereo/CD Player, large video library with contemporary titles.
KITCHEN:
Kitchen is fully-equipped with quality appliances, dishes, serving ware, tableware, and everything you will need to cook during your stay. A portable cooler is also available so guests may pack lunches and leave for the day. Indoor and outdoor dish sets are provided. Fantastic Ocean Views. Fully-equipped: bread maker, microwave, coffee maker/grinder, toaster, rice cooker, vegetable steamer, hand and bowl mixers, blender, sandwich maker, spice rack, and more. Formal and casual table linen accessories. Complete sets of dishware, outdoor dishes (for use on the deck). Outdoor Dining option on the ocean front lanai.
DINING AREA:
Spacious dining areas with vaulted ceilings and fabulous ocean views. Seating for 1-6 at table, plus extra kitchen counter seating for 1-4. East indoors or on the ocean front deck. Three sliding glass doors open to the ocean front deck spanning the entire width of the house. Leave the doors open and experience the ocean breezes as they flow through the house. Chilled water dispenser contains purified drinking water for guest's enjoyment.
BEDROOM 1:
With queen sized bed, and highest quality linens, this bedroom is known as the Sea Breeze room because the gentle trade winds blow through the room day and night. Located on the garden side of the house in a quiet and peaceful setting, this room still has ocean views. The bookshelf inside the closet is complete with local guidebooks, novels, and books of interest. We invite guest to take or leave a book. Family board games, and playing cards are also provided.
BEDROOM 2:
This quiet bedroom has fantastic ocean views and easy access to the kitchen and living room areas. Queen sized bed with highest quality linens. The closet is equipped with over 75 movie titles on VHS tape, iron and ironing board, fishing poles and equipment, beach mats, and family board games.
BEDROOM 3:
This spacious bedroom is the only room located upstairs and has a private bathroom. The loft style design with vaulted ceilings provides open air space with windows facing the ocean on one side and the garden on the opposite side. 1 King size bed. The ceiling fans and trade winds keep this room cool day and night. For groups larger than six, 2 single sized futon mats with fitted linens are stored in the closet of Bedroom 3.
BATHROOM 1:
Located on the main level of the house, just off the central hallway between Bedrooms 1 & 2. Fully-equipped with luxury towels, bath mats, beach towels, paper products, and hair dryers.
BATHROOM 2:
Full bathroom with shower (not pictured), located upstairs and attached to Bedroom 3. Fully-equipped with luxury towels, bath mats, beach towels, paper products, and hair dryers.
ACTIVE VOLCANO:
A short drive from the 8 Palms Oceanfront House. Many guests tell us they could spent a full week in the Volcano Park! Watch as the molten lava pours into the surf to create the newest land on earth. At night, view the glow of Kilauea's outbound lava flow. Hike through the Thurston Lava Tube. Visit the Jagger Museum.
ABOUT THIS AREA:
The 8 Palms Oceanfront house is located just south of Hilo. Because Hilo is a community and not a resort, it has an old-fashion comfortable feel. Visitors can take off their shoes and relax like the local people. Hilo is the second largest city, ranked below Honolulu in population and size. Visitors will find familiar services: movie theaters, shopping malls, grocery stores, retail chain stores, restaurants, and nightlife within Hilo. Beaches and beach parks comprise the Bay. It is a great place to learn about old Hawaii and the environmental and cultural forces that shaped it.
WEATHER
The temperature is mild throughout the year, averaging 72 degrees in winter months and 76 degrees in summer months. Most of the time, the temperature is a cool 74 degrees. The ocean breeze at 8 Palms in conjunction with the mild temperature make for a comfortable and enjoyable island stay.
BEACHES, SNORKELING, SURFING:
Close to Hilo Bay Beaches. The Bay is comprised of an oceanfront area laced with fish ponds, islands, and lava rimmed black and white sand beaches.
