This spacious, five-bedroom, five-and-one-half bathroom house is ideal for large single or multi-family rental. Four of the bedrooms are beautifully furnished with a queen-size bed and each has a full private bath. The fantastic bunkroom sleeps eight. There is a separate game room in the loft with a sleeper sofa.

The great room combines the kitchen, dining room, and living room areas into one fabulous gathering place with a large rock fireplace and breathtaking views all around. Three outside decks, high-speed Internet and WiFi access, commercial boot and glove dryer are a few of the many wonderful extras. The wood-paneled workout room has a full wall of windows view of Mount Crested Butte and skylight windows which open up to the glorious mountain air. There is a large new hot tub installed outside on the deck with a view of the ski area and surrounding mountains.

This house was completely refurnished in 2005. It is a professionally managed home and provides the perfect setting and amenities for a vacation to remember.

Why the Owner Chose Crested Butte

My family has been coming to Mt. Crested Butte for vacation for 20 years. One day while sitting in the Wooden Nickel having a beer, my wife and I starting looking at the real estate brochures and magazines for the area and decided to see if it was feasible to buy a place. We looked at a number of homes and condos and had almost decided to give up when we walked into 35 Anthracite. We knew the moment we walked in that it was exactly what we were looking for.

The Unique Benefits at this House

We bought this property for 2 reasons: The views and the house layout. There are other places in Mt. Crested Butte with a better view in one direction or another, but there are almost no other places with unobstructed views in so many directions. The hose layout is fabulous because there is so much room for gathering together in the Great Room, but we knew that we wanted to also be able to get away from the other guests and spend some time alone. Our favorite pastime while at 35 Anthracite is just relaxing in the evening on the deck or in the Great Room with a glass of wine and some good friends and family.

There are two towns...Crested Butte (the historical mining town) and Mt. Crested Butte (the ski area). Most of the restaurants are in Crested Butte.

The shuttle loop turns around about 100 yards from 35 Anthracite, but it is downhill through the yard and so we do not consider ourselves on the shuttle loop.

My wife and I are native Houstonians, but we wish we lived in Crested Butte! We have three children...Ryan (16), Valerie (12) and Jackson (8). We both work full time...Kirsten is the Human Resources and Benefits manager for a software company and I am a chemical engineer and manage development of a storage terminal. We only get up to Mt. Crested Butte one week in the winter to ski and one week in the summer to hike and try to rent the house out the rest of the time.

    • You couldn't ask for a better vacation rental! Eleven of us stayed in January 2005 and had plenty of extra room. The owners have put a lot of love and care into every aspect of this house. They truly want their guests to be comfortable and have every amenity available to them. We are planning to make Crested Butte and this house our annual skiing destination.

    • I have stayed in at least twelve properties in Crested Butte over the past twenty years. 35 Anthracite offers by far the most beautiful views, excellent location, user-friendly amenities, and gracious living opportunitites of any property I have utilized. Four bedrooms offer complete privacy with en suite bathrooms, making it ideal for several couples. The indoor hot tub takes the aches out while permitting a fantastic view. Winter or summer, you can't go wrong in choosing this property for your vacation.
