Chuparosa is Spanish for Hummingbird, a favorite and frequent visitor to this beautiful adobe home nestled in the foothills of the majestic Sangre De Cristo Mountains. 360 degree views offer unobstructed El Salto Mountain to the east, Taos to the south, Abiquiu to the west and Lama to the north. Located on the acequia, this wonderful place is truly an oasis in the desert with its trees and water. The internationally recognized art community of Taos is a beautiful 15 minute drive as is the Taos ski resort.
Chuparosa was the first home built in Los Altos, Arroyo Seco and captures the spirit of the southwestern architecture. Numerous hand crafted details and doors fill this unique adobe home. Both casitas offer Kiva fireplaces, full kitchens, outdoor hot tubs, community laundry with separate entrances and local art.
The east casita, Chuparosa, will accommodates 5, with a king size bed in the private bedroom, a double banco in the living room, both pillowtop mattresses, and a single futon stored in the closet. The living room and kitchen view is of the acequia and the dining room of El Salto Mountain. Two entrances to the bath area affords excellent privacy.The kitchen is fully equiped with built a in dishwasher, microwave and all common appliances, as well as linens, dishware and cooking utensils. The hot tub is outside, private and close enough to hear the acequia.
The west casita, Cuervo (crow), offers a king bed, with memory foam, in the private bedroom and a queen sofa sleeper. The floor to ceiling windows in the kitchen and living room look out onto the Sangre De Cristo mountain range and, most notably, Taos Mountain which is part of the reservation. The bath area has two entrances for additional privacy. The kitchen is fully equiped with a modern pull up dishwasher, microwave, all common appliances, linens, dishware and cooking utensils. The hot tub is located in a small enclosed adobe garden.
Our Chuparosa guests are invited to enjoy the amenities of the Los Altos community including the beautiful indoor pool, sauna and steam room, community room, tennis courts and basketball court.
Looking for more space or additional amenities? Our caretakers are Pam and Jim Maisey, owners of the beautiful Salsa del Salto Bed and Breakfast. This beautiful B and B has 10 rooms, gourmet breakfast and afternoon snackes. The great room is very large with windows offering unobstructed views of El Salto mountain and an enormous fireplace. This is the perfect place for weddings, reunions and conferences. Chuparosa offers private casitas for the bride and groom, special family members or guest speakers for your conference.
