Lake Fun for Everyone
Lake Fun for Everyone
My family and I stayed here for 5 nights at the end of August and had a lovely time. We have two young kids and they loved being so close to the water and playing with all beach toys. The cabin is a true rustic A-frame structure and is small but comfortable. The loft was a hit with the kids although we were really careful with the super steep stairs going up and down (bring a baby gate). The deck is great and we ate outside and watched the sunset most nights. The new dock is a nice addition. Our small 18 ft boat maxed it out so I wouldn't bring anything bigger than that - we recommend bringing an inflatable boat to get to and from the dock and shore without having to swim or lug out the canoe each time. The boat ramps in the area are close by and free. The cabin was stocked with all the essentials: shampoo, dish soap, towels, toilet paper, garbage bags etc. The electronics area (tv, dvd player etc.) lacked enough outlets (we seemed to have to unplug the floor lamp to plug the dvd player in) so a power bar might have helped but overall great value and a lovely location. The owners were great to deal with and prompt with responding to questions during our stay.

Cozy fall retreat!
Cozy fall retreat!
My boyfriend and I had the pleasure to enjoy this wonderful cozy Chalet in the late fall for a 4 day holiday weekend. As we arrived after night fall on a friday, we only could see reflections of lights off the lake. Little did we know of the true beauty until day break! The view of the crystal clear lake and mountains surrounding us with was breath taking! After many hours of just sitting on the deck while enjoying hot coffee to soak it all in. We finally ventured out for a brisk walk to see the area we would be enjoying all weekend. The Chalet had everything we needed to cook our romantic holiday dinner. With a short scenic drive to Lake Cowichan we found a grocery store that offered everything we would need for our week end feast! We look forward to another weekend with our families to enjoy swimming, boating and relaxing at the Gray Chalet!

Year Purchased: 2012
About the owner: My husband and son, Mike and Myles, enjoyed our first Thanksgiving at our Chalet last October. we had just purchased the Chalet from a lovely family who had owned it for 20 years. The weather was gorgeous our first weekend. We look forward to owning this chalet for next 3 decades so our son who is currently 7 can enjoy it throughout his childhood and beyond.
Why the Owner Chose Lake Cowichan:
The chalet is wonderfully modern with the unique feel of the cabin of which one remembers from childhood. The old forest is exquisitely intact and surrounds the chalet. The property faces west providing a calm peaceful feeling in the morning and a beautiful sunset into the late evening.
The Unique Benefits at this Chalet:
The Gray Chalet has been lovingly cared for. The views from the sliding glass door make one feel as if they are sitting on the water. There are modern touches in the bathroom along with the angled walls that you remember from the cabin you stayed in as a kid.
