Affordable Tropical Vacation in Hawaii

This one bedroom, one bathroom ground floor apartment condo is located at the Wavecrest Resort on the east end of Molokai, one of the last unspoiled of the Hawaiian Islands.
Molokai offers a Hawaiian vacation much different than the other islands. Molokai is quiet, rural, old Hawaii with a population of about 8,000 residents and around 1,000 or so visitors. Molokai has little traffic and not a single traffic light.
Wavecrest grounds are beautiful and maintained with pride by a full-time staff. From your lanai you will look out on the ocean, the Islands of Maui and Lanai, and the beautiful grounds canopied with plumeria and palm trees, and a variety of Hawaiian flowers. Visitors enjoy sunning by the pool or on the beautiful lawn by the ocean. Upon arrival you are awed by the many lovely trees, flowers and plants and the overall beauty of the grounds and facilities. Behind (north) of Wavecrest, the majestic 5000 ft. Kamakou Peak and 2800 acre Kamakou Forest Preserve loom spectacularly.
The Wavecrest Resort includes tennis courts, shuffle board, ample parking and a cabana with gas grills and swimming pool next to the ocean. There is a small adjacent beach where kayaks and small fishing boats are launched and from where shore-fishing is enjoyed.
Molokai has several beaches, the nearest recommended is Murphy Beach about 7 miles east at mile 20. This is a favorite snorkel spot when the ocean is calmer and the tide is up. One mile further is Sandy Beach just past mile 21 where swimming is usually safe during the summer. At the end of the road is Halawa Bay, mile 29. his is a must see area opening unto the spectacular north side of Molokai and provides good swimming and surfing as well as access to the spectacular 500 ft. Hipuapua and 250 ft. Moa’ula waterfalls of the Halawa Valley.
Kaunakakai, the main town on Molokai, provides all necessities and amenities needed to enjoy your vacation in paradise; restaurants, small Hawaiian diners, souvenir and art shops selling local art, as well as banks, post office, library, and so forth. There is a ferry that runs between Kaunakakai and Lahaina, Maui twice a day so vacationers may travel to and from Molokai via plane or boat. Beware of the ferry during high swells!
Molokai offers all of the usual outdoor sporting activities; swimming, beach-crawling, snorkeling, scuba diving, kayaking, hiking, golf, mountain biking and deep sea fishing as well as fantastic Humpback Whale watching from December through April.
Wavecrest Resort is best suited for couples and seniors seeking a quiet, relaxing vacation in a lush tropical setting. It is not well-suited to large gatherings and/or party goers. Wavecrest has onsite management and security with rules, including quiet times. However all units are rented by either owners or property management companies and these must be contacted for assistance with your rental. The facility does have an emergency contact system for situations that must be taken care of immediately, such as floods, serious electrical problems, gas leaks, and so forth.
We require inquiries to provide dates of interest, phone numbers and sufficient information for contacting references. A damage deposit is required to offset damage or excessive cleaning beyond that due to normal use.
