Restored by owner and artist Neil Moore with extraordinary authenticity.Once part of a cardinal’s residence this exquisitely decorated place preserves the colours and forms of its Medieval and Renaissance past.
The three rooms are of generous proportions and contain original oak beam ceilings, floors in terra cotta, and simple but exotic furnishings including an Etruscan cinerary urn as the bathroom hand basin.
Expertly modernised in a way that harmonizes with its historic detail it will provide a comfortable and beautiful experience in the the heart of one of the gems of Umbria's hilltowns. Casa Cardinale Montefalco

Why the Owner Chose Montefalco
We live in the countryside just near Montefalco. We needed an office and considered the gorgeous nearby hilltown so that we could have an urban base, enjoy the cafes, restaurants and lifestyle - and in particular the award winning wines. Our office takes up the street level space and the rental aprtment is upstairs, so we are often on hand if needed.
The Unique Benefits at this Apartment
The apartment is very close to Montefalco's central piazza, and just a few paces from Umbria's best cook in the restaurant Alchimista. The town has recently established itself onthe wine lover's circut with its Sagrantino red wine, recently winning awards as Italy's best red. Sitting in the piazza at sunset with a glass of this liquid treasure, adn some local pecorino cheeses, and wild boar salami helps keep me focussed on life's essentials
Patrizia has to be the best traditional Umbrian chef of the moment
You can park in the piazza to load, unload, or leave overnight. Otherwise pay (very little) per hour from 9am til 8pm
Owner's Map of Montefalco
We moved to Umbria 20 years ago from Australia. We have had two children born here, go to school here and we run a series of tour itineraries based on the study of the late medieval, early renaissance fresco cycles in surrounding hilltowns.

Dear Carol, Thank you VERY much for making available to us such a perfect vacation. I have traveled a lot over the years, but cannot remember enjoying before anything quite so fairy-tale like. The pictures truly do not represent the beauty, quality and care evident in the apt. Anyone could have happily just moved in. Your advice to use the book for a restaurant destination was also right on. You are wrong about Vassani, and I would without exception recommend it to your clients if they could possibly afford it. They have a fixed price menu, so at least there would be no surprise. You and everyone else there were so friendly and generous. This would have been such an exception in most places, One day we found ourselves in a town, headed into to avoid the truck fumes on the way back to the tunnel from Norcia, and thought we’d get a cold drink. The little town on a hill, Valle something, had literally not one commercial place as we stolled though its winding walkways. The grandmas sitting out front, if here, would have had shotguns or at least made it very clear: what the hell were we doing there? But no, we got smiles and hellos. You furnished the apt. with such nice things. I hope we left it in the same condition in which we found it, at least we did try. We will return, and this time you will find us on a big motorcycle. As for me, I’d pick up and move to the area on the fly tomorrow. Again, thank you for “setting the table” for us. We are sincerely appreciative. Yours, Gail Simon and Matt Gannon
