Nature trails are abundant and can be hiked or walked at one's leisure. There are many smaller islands off the main ones that are publicly accessible by kayak or canoe and can be used for day trips and picnicking.
The harbor-side Main Street of Stonington, the last island off Deer Isle, is peppered with one-of-a-kind art and craft galleries, antique shops, and seafood restaurants.
