Our stay overlooking the Pacific Ocean at Sea Cloud cabin was not only restful and rejuvenating away from the crowds, but we felt well taken care of and even pampered by the responsive staff. It was our third stay there and certainly not our last. It's really worth the price. Your hardest decision will be Sea Cloud or Shangri-la - good luck with that one.

We had the ultimate pleasure to stay at the Shangrila Cabin, part of the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek property offerings. We wanted the best the Mendocino Coast had to offer and this was it. Private cabin, cliffside, oceanfront location. Private attached glassed-in cabana with fabulous hot-tub. Cabin has king-bed & couch, full kitchen w/all utensils, full-sized fridge, carpeted, 180 degree oceanview windows. If you dropped a wine glass off the deck it would land in the surf. You cannot get closer to the ocean short of a tent on the beach....and yes, a spotting scope for whale watching...they brought us another with more blankets. Did I mention a gas fireplace? Storm raged (with hail) the first night and we were toasty warm with great fireplace and down comforter. Includes free movies & games, wi-fi, satellite cable (if you are possesed by American Idol as our daughter was). One of the few places on the coast to take dogs. The super -friendly owners are the hosts and stop at nothing to insure your pleasurable stay. A 5 minute walk to a private beach from the main INN at low tide is a bonus. Highly recommend! We can't stay anywhere else without regret. The photos don't do the view justice you have to see it in person.

Absolutely loved the Sea Cloud cottage. It's tiny but come on. That view! This is the most fabulous view of the Pacific Ocean you will ever see. And the hot tub is right on the cliff. The bed was very comfortable, but otherwise there isn't much more to the room. But it doesn't matter, Go for the view, the hot tub and the comfy bed. The proprietors are really nice and extremely accommodating. And don't worry about the weather. It absolutely poured one day but it only added to the ambiance. The only thing better than a hot tub on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean is a hot tub on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean during a storm. And champagne.

I have stayed at the Inn's cliff side cottages Sea Cloud and Shangri La 5 times over the past 7 years. They hang on a cliff overlooking the Pacific Ocean and the roar of the waves. I love to soak in the hot tubs and listen to the waves crashing on the rocks below... or sit on the deck and watch the Sun set. The kitchens are fully equipped, the fireplaces cozy. the beds comfortable and the VIEW and privacy are without parallel. If you plan to stay in your cottage spend the extra money for Shangri-la - you'll never want to leave.

Due to a extraordinary set of circumstances we found ourselves staying at the Shangri-la Cottage a bit south of the Inn at Schoolhouse Creek main property. All I can say is this was the single most pleasant week I have spent on the west coast. The cottage was the definition of a perfect retreat. The 180 degree view of the Pacific was spectacular during the first days of sunshine and warm winds then the definition of dramatic as a huge storm blew in and sent waves crashing on the rocks 200 feet below our balcony. And then there is the breakfast food and service.......this staff is beyond excellent both in the quality of food and service. So much more than we had ever expected. And to top that the restaurant a short walk up the road from our cottage serves a "Bistro" dinner of exquisite food and a view almost as good as that from our cottage..complete with a jazz duo of piano and bass that makes one want to spend the whole evening sipping a long slow drink just letting life drift by as the surf plays below and the music fills the air in the restaurant. Don't miss the botanical gardens in Ft. Bragg while you are in the neighborhood. I said to my wife as we drove away on the last day, "If we win the lotto I would reserve this place for three months of every year. Thanks to all who made our stay such a pure delight.

The SEA CLOUD cottage is amazing! Both cozy and completely comfortable (as long as you enjoy your roommate). We had planned to go out for a nice dinner but when we got to our room we immediately decided that we weren't going to waste 2 hours at a restaurant and went up the road (4 miles north) to a small deli-grocer and bought stuff to eat in. Sitting in the hot tub we watched the sun set as the waves crashed into the cliffs below. The cottage isn't large but the view is to DIE for and it has all you need to be comfortable. The King bed was super comfy and the kitchen thoughtfully stocked.
