BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAIN AND SUNSET VIEWS! BRING YOUR FAMILY AND BOAT!!
We invite you to unwind and relax in our charming cottage with glorious mountain and sunset views on Beautiful Lake Lure. You take only four short steps from the street and you enter into the top floor of our cottage recently renovated to include modern amenties while still retaining the rustic charm. We added old fashioned beaded board ceilings upstairs and refinished the original wood floors.
You will find one full bath (linens provided) with stack washer/dryer, vanity sink and tub/shower. Down the hall, you have two bedrooms, one with queen size bed and ceiling fan, and one with bunkbed with double mattress on bottom and twin mattress on top (children only on top bunk). You can step outside onto the upstairs porch to greet the morning with your tea or coffee and enjoy the glorious views of the lake and mountains on the swing or chaise lounges.
Downstairs is the great room with the original knotty pine paneling, 2 large sofas (one is log frame futon) and a chair to cozy up in front of the gas fireplace and enjoy the selection of books, games, satellite tv, dvd. Movies available at Ingles Grocery Store.
When you are ready to eat, you will find a fully stocked kitchen with microwave, frig, stove and a dishwasher to help clean up. You can move the cooking outdoors to the charcoal grill or gas grill and keep an eye on the burgers from the downstairs back porch furnished with classic glider and rockers, and then eat outdoors on the picnic table.
While you are enjoying the back porch, yard, boathouse and lake, you will find for your convenience the second bathroom located on the back porch, which has a shower, sink and commode. A few steps from the porch brings you to about 12 stone steps leading to the deck on top of the boathouse with dining furniture and lounging furniture with those glorious views of the lake and mountains. Down another short flight of steps takes you to the dock where you will find a canoe (life jackets supplied) and a paddle boat for getting around the lake.
Try your hand at fishing where past guests have caught trout and bass, (and some have caught a quiet time), or go for a swim to cool off in the clear waters of Lake Lure. Remember the water is at least 15 feet deep in front of our boathouse! The Simple Life Cottage is located on the east side of the lake on a large quiet cove with a no wake zone (not far off the main channel), so that swimming, fishing, canoing and pedalling is safe and fun.
Selected as one of the ten most beautiful man-made lakes in the world by National Geographic, Lake Lure is nestled in the serene setting of the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. You will discover the magic and bounty of nature in this wondrous canyon known as Hickory Nut Gorge. Lake Lure was built in 1925 and consists of approximately 1500 acres with 27 miles of shoreline. Major motion pictures filmed here include Firestarter, A Breed Apart, Dirty Dancing, and Last of the Mohicans.
The iso-thermal belt provides enjoyable climate and four season splendor year round. For the 'active life' scenic attractions, parks, hiking, white water rafting, and water sports, as well as waterfalls close by, good food, and quaint shops. For the 'simple life' relax and lounge on the deck on top of our boathouse enjoying the lake and mountain views with a good book.

We had a most relaxing time at this warm, cozy and inviting cottage. So close to Chimney Rock, shopping, restaurants, and Ingels grocery store which was very impressive. Spent most of our down time on the back porch. What a great view, so peaceful and serene. Would not change a thing.

Our "Simple Life" Stay 10/18-10/21
As a recently engaged couple, we chose to celebrate the good news in the Mountains. With beautiful views of Lake Lure, tours of Asheville and a climb to the top of Chimney Rock- we had an excellent adventure. The Cabin was situated quite close to the grocery store and local souvenir shops. Everything on our itinerary was within close reach. We enjoyed the cabin as much as the great outdoors. Every morning, we were greeted to spectacular views of the Lake. Watching movies, playing guitar on the dock and grilling our own burgers outside. We will both miss this cozy cabin, but the memory of this wonderful vacation will remain with us for a very long time. It was perfect!

Our small family of four spent a very relaxing, long weekend. The water quality of Lake Lure is amazing. The depth off the dock is at least 20 ft., which was surprising to us. Most other lake access we have experienced is not that deep. The house is cozy and comfortable. We had a great time! More than 4 people would be too much for this cottage.

Wonderful, cozy little cottage! Great Views!!!
Wonderful, cozy little cottage! Great Views!!!
My wife and I stayed here for a long weekend to celebrate our first wedding anniversary and had the most wonderful time. Mary Ann, the owner, is super friendly and helpful and her asking rates are very fair. The house is very clean and has all the amenities you would need to enjoy your stay and also lots of neat extras like the fireplace, canoe, and paddleboat, to name a few. Even though this is an older home, it is very well kept up and you can tell the owners have put care into keeping it updated. It has the perfect amount of comfort and rustic charm to really help you enjoy your mountain getaway. We had the most wonderful time getting up early every morning to sit on the boathouse deck with a fresh cup of coffee and watch the sun come up over the water & mountain range. We even got to do a little swimming even though it was early September...we brought a couple floats and a rope, tied ourselves to the dock, and just floated around in the sun for hours with a drink in hand...so relaxing and just what we needed! We highly recommend eating at Larkins on the Lake, which is a restaurant that is nearby that has wonderful views. Also, the new Ingles grocery store is pretty close by and is one of the nicer grocery stores I've been in. We really did have the greatest time staying here in this cute little cottage and it was the best anniversary trip we could have asked for. My only regret is that I didn't ask off work a little longer so I could stay all week! Can't recommend enough! **One more thing: This owner also has a property next door that is for rent...we didn't obviously get to see the inside, but it was really nice looking and might be a good option for anyone who wants a little more space. We briefly met the couple who was staying there and they seemed to really like it.

We really enjoyed our weekend! It was a great getaway from Charlotte and just what we needed. The owner was very generous and responded quickly to any questions. The cottage is a cozy and comfortable place to enjoy for a couple, but may get a little crowded if you are bringing friends. The scenery is great! Restaurants and grocery store are not too far off if needed. We look forward to going back.

We are a family of four and we fell in love with the area and the the views. The cottage was very well-equipped and very cozy. Even in the cold days (cold for Floridians but only in the 30s), we spent quiet mornings sipping on hot cocoa on the top porch swing, we used the canoe and paddle boat and BBQ'd and had meals outside. Very short drive to Chimney Rock, horse back riding, zip lines and antique shops and restaurants in the downtown area. We tried zip lines for the first time and loved it. The only drawbacks that were NOT a problem for us but maybe for others is no closet space and little drawer space.

Owner response: So happy you enjoyed your stay at The Simple Life Cottage and the fantastic location off-off the main road with beautiful views of sunsets, mountains and lake. Our cottage is small and cozy as you can see from the pictures, with efficient use of space. While the closets are used for owner supplies, we do provide multiple hooks on the back of the doors in the bedrooms, and a chest of drawers in each. Also there are hooks in the hallway and downstairs to hang jackets and caps. Loads of choices for outdoor living space with the top porch, downstairs porch, small backyard with grills and picnic table, large boathouse roof deck (my favorite), and dock to fish, swim and boat from, all for a relaxing or active escape to the mountains. We hope to welcome you back soon :)

Life was absolutely grand for the entire stay. We enjoyed every outside lounge/hang out location within 2-3 hours. Never turned on the tv. Enjoyed watching rain drops hitting the lake, canoeing on the lake, lounging by the lake, watching wildlife, and lots of laughter amoungst friends. The accomodations could not have been more perfect. We only ventured out once as our purpose was to relax and enjoy friends which we did to the best of our abilities. Thank you for sharing your perfect, quaint cottage with us. It was wonderful.

We came for a long weekend and it was great! Cottage was cozy and clean – couldn’t have been better. Really enjoyed sitting on the boathouse and enjoying the view. Close to Chimney Rock and highly recommend taking the boat tour of Lake Lure! The other reviews we read were right on the money – glad we came and we’d definitely like to come back again.

My boyfriend and I saw this adorable cabin online and immediately booked it. The pictures did not do it justice..it was the cutest, cleanest, most relaxing place I've ever stayed at! The cabin was stocked with everything we needed! We took the canoe and pattleboat out, went hiking, BBQ'd and simply relaxed and enjoyed the peace and quiet. I would recommend this adorable cabin to anyone who is looking to get away for a nice quiet long weekend. We definitely plan on returning. Thanks again Mary Ann...we had such a wonderful time

perfect place to honeymoon!
perfect place to honeymoon!
my husband and I were so lucky to find this adoreable little cottage right on the lake! What an amazing view and what a perfect cozy little place for just two people! (it may have been crowded with our 18 month old!) we had a wonderdul time canoeing and it was not far from the convenience of ingles grocery store 3 miles away. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to honeymoon. And Ms. Mary ann is so nice and hospitable. She called shortly after checkout to see if we had a pleasant stay. The house is just as described on the site. Highly recommend her cozy cottage for any couple! Definitely plan to come back!
