  We are a family of four and we fell in love with the area and the the views. The cottage was very well-equipped and very cozy. Even in the cold days (cold for Floridians but only in the 30s), we spent quiet mornings sipping on hot cocoa on the top porch swing, we used the canoe and paddle boat and BBQ'd and had meals outside. Very short drive to Chimney Rock, horse back riding, zip lines and antique shops and restaurants in the downtown area. We tried zip lines for the first time and loved it. The only drawbacks that were NOT a problem for us but maybe for others is no closet space and little drawer space.

  Recommended for: Age 55+, families with teenagers, adventure seekers, romantic getaway, families with young children, girls getaway, sightseeing.

  Owner response: So happy you enjoyed your stay at The Simple Life Cottage and the fantastic location off-off the main road with beautiful views of sunsets, mountains and lake. Our cottage is small and cozy as you can see from the pictures, with efficient use of space. While the closets are used for owner supplies, we do provide multiple hooks on the back of the doors in the bedrooms, and a chest of drawers in each. Also there are hooks in the hallway and downstairs to hang jackets and caps. Loads of choices for outdoor living space with the top porch, downstairs porch, small backyard with grills and picnic table, large boathouse roof deck (my favorite), and dock to fish, swim and boat from, all for a relaxing or active escape to the mountains.   Life was absolutely grand for the entire stay. We enjoyed every outside lounge/hang out location within 2-3 hours. Never turned on the tv. Enjoyed watching rain drops hitting the lake, canoeing on the lake, lounging by the lake, watching wildlife, and lots of laughter amoungst friends. The accomodations could not have been more perfect. We only ventured out once as our purpose was to relax and enjoy friends which we did to the best of our abilities. Thank you for sharing your perfect, quaint cottage with us. It was wonderful.

  We came for a long weekend and it was great! Cottage was cozy and clean – couldn’t have been better. Really enjoyed sitting on the boathouse and enjoying the view. Close to Chimney Rock and highly recommend taking the boat tour of Lake Lure! The other reviews we read were right on the money – glad we came and we’d definitely like to come back again.

  My boyfriend and I saw this adorable cabin online and immediately booked it. The pictures did not do it justice..it was the cutest, cleanest, most relaxing place I've ever stayed at! The cabin was stocked with everything we needed! We took the canoe and pattleboat out, went hiking, BBQ'd and simply relaxed and enjoyed the peace and quiet. I would recommend this adorable cabin to anyone who is looking to get away for a nice quiet long weekend. We definitely plan on returning. Thanks again Mary Ann...we had such a wonderful time

  my husband and I were so lucky to find this adoreable little cottage right on the lake! What an amazing view and what a perfect cozy little place for just two people! (it may have been crowded with our 18 month old!) we had a wonderdul time canoeing and it was not far from the convenience of ingles grocery store 3 miles away. We couldn't have asked for a more perfect place to honeymoon. And Ms. Mary ann is so nice and hospitable. She called shortly after checkout to see if we had a pleasant stay. The house is just as described on the site. Highly recommend her cozy cottage for any couple! Definitely plan to come back!

  My daughters and I had a wonderful time at The Sinple Life Cottage. I would recommend it to anyone looking to relax and get away. With a canoe, paddle boat and proximity to Chimney Rock, it also has enough activity for the kids. We look forward to visiting again soon.

  What a great weekend!! Although we only live an hour away it was the perfect getaway. What a lovely cottage and right on the lake. Even though Lake Lure is somewhat "sleepy" in the winter it was just what was needed. The fireplace was wonderful with the chilly weather. The cottage was just as described; warm, inviting, clean and well maintained. Will definitely return and would highly recommend others for a visit.

  Great place! So relaxing you just want to stay another night. Close to Chimney Rock for a nice day out. Restaurants in the area if you choose to eat out, but we preferred to bring our meals and cook at the cabin. Movie and fireplace at night to take the chill off. Basically, just show up and the cabin does the rest. Definitely will come back. Easy contact with Mary Ann to setup everything. We had such a nice time. Love the bear theme :o) Dennis and Kathy.

  We had a wonderful 12 days in your cute, little cottage. We greatly enjoyed all the many places to sit, relax, enjoy the views and listen to the calming splashing of the lake. The deck overlooking the lake is fabulous. With the canoe and pedal boat to explore the lake, and many nice places - Asheville, Hendersonville - close by to visit our days were quiet and relaxing but never boring. Thank you for sharing the "Simple Life" with us.
