BEAUTIFUL MOUNTAIN AND SUNSET VIEWS! BRING YOUR FAMILY AND BOAT!!
CANOE AND PADDLE BOAT PROVIDED FOR YOUR ENJOYMENT!!!
We invite you to unwind and relax in our charming cottage with glorious mountain and sunset views on Beautiful Lake Lure. You take only four short steps from the street and you enter into the top floor of our cottage recently renovated to include modern amenties while still retaining the rustic charm. We added old fashioned beaded board ceilings upstairs and refinished the original wood floors.
You will find one full bath (linens provided) with stack washer/dryer, vanity sink and tub/shower. Down the hall, you have two bedrooms, one with queen size bed and ceiling fan, and one with bunkbed with double mattress on bottom and twin mattress on top (children only on top bunk). You can step outside onto the upstairs porch to greet the morning with your tea or coffee and enjoy the glorious views of the lake and mountains on the swing or chaise lounges.
Downstairs is the great room with the original knotty pine paneling, 2 large sofas (one is log frame futon) and a chair to cozy up in front of the gas fireplace and enjoy the selection of books, games, satellite tv, dvd. Movies available at Ingles Grocery Store.
When you are ready to eat, you will find a fully stocked kitchen with microwave, frig, stove and a dishwasher to help clean up. You can move the cooking outdoors to the charcoal grill or gas grill and keep an eye on the burgers from the downstairs back porch furnished with classic glider and rockers, and then eat outdoors on the picnic table.
While you are enjoying the back porch, yard, boathouse and lake, you will find for your convenience the second bathroom located on the back porch, which has a shower, sink and commode. A few steps from the porch brings you to about 12 stone steps leading to the deck on top of the boathouse with dining furniture and lounging furniture with those glorious views of the lake and mountains. Down another short flight of steps takes you to the dock where you will find a canoe (life jackets supplied) and a paddle boat for getting around the lake.
Try your hand at fishing where past guests have caught trout and bass, (and some have caught a quiet time), or go for a swim to cool off in the clear waters of Lake Lure. Remember the water is at least 15 feet deep in front of our boathouse! The Simple Life Cottage is located on the east side of the lake on a large quiet cove with a no wake zone (not far off the main channel), so that swimming, fishing, canoing and pedalling is safe and fun.
Selected as one of the ten most beautiful man-made lakes in the world by National Geographic, Lake Lure is nestled in the serene setting of the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. You will discover the magic and bounty of nature in this wondrous canyon known as Hickory Nut Gorge. Lake Lure was built in 1925 and consists of approximately 1500 acres with 27 miles of shoreline. Major motion pictures filmed here include Firestarter, A Breed Apart, Dirty Dancing, and Last of the Mohicans.
The iso-thermal belt provides enjoyable climate and four season splendor year round. For the "active life" scenic attractions, parks, hiking, white water rafting, and water sports, as well as waterfalls close by, good food, and quaint shops. For the "simple life" relax and lounge on the deck on top of our boathouse enjoying the lake and mountain views with a good book.
So Sorry, but No Smoking (except outside) and No Pets allowed. Departure Cleaning Included. Bed, bath and kitchen linens included.
We look forward to welcoming you to our Simple Life Cottage!

What a great weekend!! Although we only live an hour away it was the perfect getaway. What a lovely cottage and right on the lake. Even though Lake Lure is somewhat "sleepy" in the winter it was just what was needed. The fireplace was wonderful with the chilly weather. The cottage was just as described; warm, inviting, clean and well maintained. Will definitely return and would highly recommend others for a visit.
Recommended for:Romantic getaway, sightseeing, adventure seekers, age 55+, families with teenagers.

Great place! So relaxing you just want to stay another night. Close to Chimney Rock for a nice day out. Restaurants in the area if you choose to eat out, but we preferred to bring our meals and cook at the cabin. Movie and fireplace at night to take the chill off. Basically, just show up and the cabin does the rest. Definitely will come back. Easy contact with Mary Ann to setup everything. We had such a nice time. Love the bear theme :o) Dennis and Kathy.

We had a wonderful 12 days in your cute, little cottage. We greatly enjoyed all the many places to sit, relax, enjoy the views and listen to the calming splashing of the lake. The deck overlooking the lake is fabulous. With the canoe and pedal boat to explore the lake, and many nice places - Asheville, Hendersonville - close by to visit our days were quiet and relaxing but never boring. Thank you for sharing the "Simple Life" with us.

Million Dollar View!! We rented this house with another couple, for a weekend getaway in October 2010. We loved our stay! This home is adorable, clean and well maintained. Our favorite thing about this house was the view. It has to have one of the best views of the mountains and the lake. We spent alot of time on the covered back porch looking over the lake. The deck on the water is huge and we enjoyed taking the canoe out on beautiful Lake Lure. We enjoyed warming up in front of the fireplace in the morning while sipping our morning coffee:) The Town of Lake Lure is nestled at the bottom of Hanging Rock Mountain, and has a beautiful river walk, great restaurants and shops, an we love to bring back mountain grown apples and honey from the roadside stands. The Art Fair is always amazing too! Thanks!
