This fabulous historic home - built in 1913 as a small town school - has been completely and meticulously restored.
The upstairs features two spacious and private apartments. For the price of a moderate hotel, you'll have a wonderful furnished home. The apartment boasts 1200 sq. feet of high ceilings and large windows, wood floors and all the amenties of a fine house - including a great art collection.
The main living area was originally a schoolroom and has an elegant and expansive feel. It contains a living room, dining room and partitioned bedroom. A wall of windows looks out onto three enormous live oak trees, while three front doors open up onto a classic Southern veranda.
The bedroom area has a queen sized bed and the living room is furnished with a day-bed and pull-out trundle. The apartment sleeps four good friends, but is perfect for a couple. A large full kitchen and tiled bath ajoin the main living area. The kitchen door opens up to the back of the house and onto a deck that nestles beneath the boughs of the oaks.
With private phone line (with unlimited long-distance), cable and wireless high-speed internet, it'd be difficult to find more reasonable or more comfortable accomodations anywhere on the Mississippi Coast. References from other recent guests are available on request. Current rates have not changed in four years.
Bay St. Louis is a sturdy little arts colony with a heart that still beats strong. Already, galleries, shops and fine restaurants have reopened and are thriving. The beach - juat a short walk from the house - has been restored and is pleasantly uncrowded. The nearby Casino and Golf course are in full swing. The Highway 90 bridge to the east is also open now, allowing easy access to Gulfport and Biloxi.
