Honu Kai means turtle waters. We chose this name for the property because of the abundance of green sea turtles that reside in the waters surrounding Honu Kai and the Kohala Coast.
This traditional style, two-bedroom, two-bath, Hawaiian, beach cottage comfortably sleeps five people and there are 3 twin "punees" in the living area for extras. The house has a spacious living area which separates the two bedrooms for privacy. There is a deck with outdoor dining table and large seating area to hang out
The art work and authentic Hawaiian charm create an ambiance which is warm and relaxing. Honu Kai has steps to the ocean and tide pools where you can snorkel and dive in some of the best conditions in Hawaii.
This Puako oceanfront location boasts some of the most spectacular views along the Kohala Coast and great sunsets. A panoramic view reveals an endless ocean in front of the house and Mauna Kea mountain views behind the property.

Meet our property managers from AlohaDebbie Properties....Leilani and Debbie are a "mother-daughter" team and Debbie lives just down the street from Honu Kai. They are available 7 days a week to assist you with whatever you might need to make your vacation comfortable. They rent kayaks and snorkel gear, too. Debbie, Deborah D. Sharp (R) is a real estate broker with 29 years of experience. Leilani, is a licensed agent with 10 years of experience.

This is one of the bet snorkeling spots in Puako...some say Puako is the best diving/snorkeling area in the Hawaiian Islands. There is a channel through the tide pools which takes you right out to the reef. We love the quality relaxation time here. Honu Kai is a retreat for us!

Although I live in Hilo on the other side of the island, my mainland family and I have been enjoying this very special place for many, many years. The grandkids love the big front lawn and wandering along the shoreline looking for treasures. Good snorkeling, too, when the waves are calm. The kitchen is full of "stuff" so you can create, when the urge hits you, your own feasts. The grandkids love making cookies. The Puako Store, too, has a wonderful selection of foods you wouldn't expect to find in a country store.
Recommended for:Age 55+, families with young children.

I can't say enough about what a wonderful trip my family and I had staying at your beautiful home! From the moment we arrived in Puako we were in love. The sea turtles are incredible they come right on to the beach and rocks in front of the house. My wife and I love to dive and the reef and fish life in Puako is some of the best I've ever seen. My kids spent everyday out in the tide pools exploring and finding shells, they were in heaven. Watching the whales from the deck while eating breakfast made my trip and sitting out on the seawall at night was another unforgettable experience, just relaxing and watching the beautiful sunsets, I'll never forget our trip and can't wait to go back next year!!!
