  We just returned from our wonderful week at Honu Kai in Puako, one of the most beautiful spots on the planet. This was our annual family Christmas beach holiday, which we have previously spent in Miami South Beach, Cabo San Lucas, Puerto Rico, Akumall Mexico and St. John USVI. Although we were 3 couples - ourselves and our 2 sons and girlfriend and wife - there was plenty of room for either privacy or family togetherness and this was our favorite rental of all. The fact that the house is so wide (not narrow like nearly every condo) and the yard is so huge, you have an incredible view of the ocean and feel like like you are the only ones for miles around. We especially enjoyed sitting on the little wall, watching the ubiquitous whales and turtles as well as enjoying the fantastic sunsets with glasses of wine. There were so many windows that there was always a pleasant breeze and the soothing sound of ocean waves. Meals on the porch were memorable and we enjoyed snorkeling with the turtles and fish right in front of the house. This is a comfortable house, more like your parents lake cottage than a sophisticated modern home and we loved the comfortable, casual decor but it it would not be for anyone who prefers new and modern. Everything was clean and the kitchen was well equipped but there were some problems with ants if any food was left out. After this, our group moved to a condo right on the beach in Kailua-Kona and although it was very nice, we definitely missed Honu Kai. The people at Aloha Debbie were very friendly and helpful when there was an unavoidable problem with the house which delayed our check-in date and we highly recommend this company. We are already looking ahead for when we can return to the Big Island and we will definitely want to return to Honu Kai!

  Although I live in Hilo on the other side of the island, my mainland family and I have been enjoying this very special place for many, many years. The grandkids love the big front lawn and wandering along the shoreline looking for treasures. Good snorkeling, too, when the waves are calm. The kitchen is full of "stuff" so you can create, when the urge hits you, your own feasts. The grandkids love making cookies. The Puako Store, too, has a wonderful selection of foods you wouldn't expect to find in a country store.

  I can't say enough about what a wonderful trip my family and I had staying at your beautiful home! From the moment we arrived in Puako we were in love. The sea turtles are incredible they come right on to the beach and rocks in front of the house. My wife and I love to dive and the reef and fish life in Puako is some of the best I've ever seen. My kids spent everyday out in the tide pools exploring and finding shells, they were in heaven. Watching the whales from the deck while eating breakfast made my trip and sitting out on the seawall at night was another unforgettable experience, just relaxing and watching the beautiful sunsets, I'll never forget our trip and can't wait to go back next year!!!
