Located in the Smoky Mountains this property offers an opportunity to access the Qualla Boundary (Cherokee) with museums, Harrah's Casino, interpretive centers, etc. The cabin is only 35 minutes to Asheville which is a center of arts, music, folk crafts, the Biltmore House and some of the best restaurants in the country. Nearby there is whitewater rafting, kayaking, mountain biking and hikes of all levels of difficulty (or ease.) This is the most bio-diverse region of the entire country. There will be a comprehensive directory located at the cabin of all the best and little known places to visit in the area.
Year Purchased: 2001
About the owner: We both grew up in Minnesota, hence the Scandinavian theme of Trollhaugen. We live in Waynesville now and love the four season beauty of western North Carolina.
Why the Owner Chose Maggie Valley: We bought Trollhaugen because it reminded us of lake cabins in Minnesota. And because it is so remote that you feel alone in the woods. Yet it only takes 15 minutes to get to the grocery store and good restaurants.
The Unique Benefits at this Cabin: The views are amazing. There are always birds at the feeders. You can hike from the cabin in many directions without ever getting in a car. And you likely won't meet anyone as you are hiking.
