Townhouse description:
EXCELLENT LOCATION ! EXCELLENT PRICES ! DIRECTLY ACROSS THE 3/4 MILE CAUSEWAY FROM SULLIVAN'S ISLAND PRISTINE BEACHES, IN BEAUTIFUL OLD VILLAGE MOUNT PLEASANT
This 2 bedroom, 1 and 2- ½ baths Townhouse is located in the Old Village of Mount Pleasant. 1500+ sq.ft. means each room is spacious, at least 1/3 larger than most.
Located 1 mile to Sullivan's Island Beach, 6 miles to Historic Charleston, 12 miles to the airport, 2 miles to Shem Creek’s famous seafood restaurants, 4 miles to the Yorktown at Patriot’s Point, and 1 mile to Pitt Street Bridge, this Townhouse offers one King size Bed in large master bedroom as well as a full size, all wood futon. One queen and a set of bunk beds in second bedroom, plus same futon along with new Simmon's sofa in LR. It is comfortably prepared for sleeping 4 adults and 2-4 children (+port-a-crib), or 7 adults. The 2 bathrooms uptairs share 1 shower/tub in the middle with seperate entrances from Master and hall baths. Then there is another 1/2 bath downstairs.
The kitchen is fully equipped with all but your groceries and the large dining room seats 8-10 comfortably. The living area is large and comfy, arranged for family fun. A full laundry room is off of the living room. That room opens onto the small back porch and small backyard with grill and hammock. There is a covered front porch as well. We keep a few beach chairs, a medium cooler, and a some beach toys ( as well as non-beach toys) for guests to use. I also have info for a service that will set you up with wood and canvas loungers and umbrellas each morn.
The charming vacation home is decorated in a tropical island/beach motif and is located on a quit cul-de-sac with no street traffic in one of Charleston’s top communities.
*** Small groups check out our small, beachfront, 1BR/1BA condo 10 miles from downtown Charleston, listing 116783, or click "see All my Rental listings" below for oceanfront Bargains in Charleston!
Walk 1 mile to Sullivan’s island’s gorgeous beach and fun pubs, or 1 mile the other direction to Old Pitt Street Bridge, a 1000-foot pier, is a favorite biking, walking, crabbing, fishing destination on the Intercoastal Waterway with incredible sunsets overlooking downtown Charleston. A full shopping center is less than 2 blocks walk. There are five top golf courses within 10 to 20 minutes drive and many more 30-45 minutes.
One of our best features is that we are located in a much lower traffic area than most of the Charleston Area. Mount Pleasant’s Old Village is accessible to downtown and beaches without entering the main traffic areas of Hwy 17 which have become a burden to our city. Directions will be direct and simple and involve few complicating factors. This can make a serious difference in your experience. It was built in 1978, remodeled in 1989. The Village is the nicest area, but all the brand new places are miles up the HWY.
We split fees for PAYPAL, but do not feel comfortable having your credit card info in these crazy days of identity theft.
(We provide a lmited amount of start-up paper goods, soaps, etc.)

Why the Owner Chose Charleston
My parents own a large wonderful beachfront home that rents for $7600 a week I have managed for 10 years. My husband and I decided that it would be great for us to have a rental that would easily accessible to the beach and historic downtown, and a more affordable vacation here for smaller families/groups. We live close by and just love this LOCATION.
The Unique Benefits at this Townhome
We are truly in the best possible location for accessibility to all facets of vacationing in the Charleston area: lowest traffic area, safest area, beautiful area, easy directions to all locations from Myrtle Court, and just moments to everything. Outside of beachfront or South of Broad Luxury (with the price tag that must follow), we have the very best to offer.
A number of good seafood restaurants overlooking the shrimp boats coming and going thru the harbor and creek
Under a mile walk (or drive) from townhouse for the best Sunsets around.

By Phyllis P (Knoxville, TN) Absolutely wonderful!, July 2, 2011 Extremely convenient to everywhere we wanted to go! We walked in and were so pleased with the townhouse, the little touches that made it so welcoming and homey and the roominess the notebook with all the information was a great idea, we used it the first night! You must add POE's on Sullivan Island that was great and the best fish tacos! Susan you were great to work with and it was a pleasure doing the business end of it with you! Thank you for letting us bring our little Dooley with us, he enjoyed his visit also. Would LOVE to plan a trip next year with the grandkids! Thank you for your helpfulness and we had a great vacation, your area is lovely and we loved it. Thanks for the hospitality that you showed and we look forward to another visit!

I think this is the perfect place for vacation! The beach is minutes away. There are really great restaurants in the area. The Red Ice House is a must if you love crab legs. Susan, the owner had recommended a place called Pitt Bridge Road..that has to be seen to behold the beauty of a sunset. I went there several times and never got tired of it. Whenever I get to go back to Charleston this is where I want to stay...great location and such a nice place! I want to thank Susan...so very much for everything..You are the best! JEM

We enjoyed a couple of nights in this fantastic townhouse. We were a party of five adults and there was plenty of room to spread out so that everyone could have their own privacy. The listing was accurately described. We especially enjoyed the neighborhood and the easy commute to downtown Charleston. Everyone in our party was very pleased with how comfortable the townhouse felt, and also with all the amenities offered. The owner was so pleasant to deal with and eager to answer any questions about the area. I will definitely try to rent from Susan again! We only had two days here but some of our activities that we would recommend include: 1. Dinner at Locklears in Mt. Pleasant 2. A walk on the waterfront pier located under the Ravanel bridge. We visited after dinner and the sunset and city lights were so beautiful here. We also got to watch some awesome fireworks while we were there. And the view from underneath the bridge is incredible. We were originally going to walk across the bridge , but the waterfront park was a much better choice due to the heat. 3.We took the Dungeon Ghost tour in Charleston. I can't really say it was scary, but it was definitely entertaining. 4. "Cupcakes" on King St. Yum!!!! 5.Magnolia Cemetery- beautiful!! 6. I am going to hunt for Palmetto Pig on 17North tomorrow. It is supposed to be owned or related to "Dukes". We used to plan our vacations around Duke locations, so we will be on a sharp lookout for the Palmetto Pig tomorrow. Hopefully it will be just as Dukes used to be. Thanks so much for sharing your wonderful townhouse with us!
Owner response:Thank YOU Lillie ! Please do come back.

This was our first VRBO experience. While we found the place quiet and convenient, we were disappointed with the mustiness (when owner was called, it was blamed on recent rainfall). Allergy sufferers should beware. Pots/pans were in bad shape. Had to make several trips to the nearby stores for air freshener, pans, toilet paper, tissue, paper towels, etc. The nearest sandy beach, on Sullivan’s Island, is over two miles away – not one as advertised. The hair dryer and the grill (dirty) did not work. Little attention was given to our complaints – made via phone and email. The location is very convenient to stores and restaurants.
Owner response:The issue of mustiness - if there is non-stop rain for days before visit, expect this if you are 1 block from the marsh. As stated on our site: "It was built in 1978, remodeled in 1989. The Village is the nicest area, but all the brand new places are miles up the HWY" (with tons of traffic) AND "We provide a lmited amount of start-up paper goods, soaps, etc.", This is a spacious yet 33yr old townhouse, hence the fabulous location with a bargain price. Guests who usually rent VRBO or any "by owner" understand that we are not a HOTEL and plan to make store trips. Having space and a kitchen is why they rent this way. I would have to charge all guests a higher rate to provide unlimited tissue, pp towels, tp, air freshener, and a new set of pans regularly. Guests receive a sheet of procedures that identifies the grill and outdoors being the responsibility of guests. I replaced the broken hairdryer which they brought to my attention. My husband went over and checked the grill, which worked (you had to use a lighter) and was not spotless but better than our home grill. He also insisted on checking the drive between the townhouse straight to Sullivan's Island, which is 1.4 mile. The beach does turn out to be 2.2 miles. (I am ignoring his wishes for me to include foul language in this response : ) Charleston Place is $375-545 per night + tax and 9.5 miles from beach (I checked online), Or, Days Inn with 275 sq ft instead of 1500, and $35 per night more instead of the $104 + tax which they paid, INCLUDING cleaning and all other fees, may have been preferrable . I am truly sorry that they had a bad experience. Renting by owner is not for everyone.

We had a girlfriend weekend in Charleston and stayed at this townhouse. The owners were very kind, the town house was very nice and spacious and we loved it. It was a short distance to Charleston in a quiet community. I would definitely recommend this property. It was a find!
Owner response:Thanks and come back Chris!

The house is a sweet town house in a perfect location - close to everything. Equipped well for children. We didn't even take out the games and books we brought with us from home. Everything is made with good taste. The owner is also very helpful. We have been there during Christmas vacation, and found out the place is great to spend winter vacation too. Highly recommended!

Susan, Our stay at Myrtle Court was very accomodating. The distribution of beds was wonderful and there was even a pack and play for the little one! We enjoyed eating our meals on the large family table and found the kitchen to be fully equiped. The location is great! I especially appreciated the cleanliness of the home. It is definitely a "home away from home". It was so welcoming when we arrived. We appreciated the special care taken in preparing the home for us. Music was playing, the fans and AC were on and even lights were on to add a welcome. Thanks again for opening up your home to us. It was a blessing to our family. We only wish that we could remain in the warm, balmy weather! Ken and Lorie

Susan,I wanted to email you and let you know how much we enjoyed staying at your unit during the bridge run weekend. You have thought of everything and we appreciate the special touches. It turned out to be the perfect spot for a Bridge Run weekend. We walked to the start line from the unit and found out we had plenty of time to spare (enough to sleep in a good bit longer as compared to staying somewhere downtown). We caught the bus afterwards and they dropped us off not too far from where we started from. Perfect spot. I will make sure to call you first for next year’s run. We hope to get back down in the near future and will keep your info to check on availability. Thanks again for offering such a great unit.Michele From Susan to Michele:Can I post your comment on our site with 1st name only and no other info?Come back anytime. It's always a slice of heaven here.SusanSure, you can post my comment. Yes, it was hard leaving that little slice of heaven. I had lived downtown for about two years while in school years ago and worked in Mt. Pleasant while there. For some reason, I had never explored the ‘old village’ area of Mt. Pleasant until this weekend. I had no idea it was so neat and that neighborhood is an awesome place to explore by foot or bike. Such a nice surprise and it was all so close the beaches too. Thanks. Thank You Michele,
