Why the Owner Chose Gilford: Mark Island is 93 acres and is one of 253 islands located on Lake Winnipesaukee, meaning “Smile of the Great Spirit”. Mark supposedly got its’ name because of the big hill at its’ center being used as a ‘marker’ when navigating as it is more elevated than the neighboring islands. Our property has many walking trails, hiking to the Peak of Mark Island which is part of this property. There are approximately 30 homes on “Mark Island An Island Paradise”.
