The place was perfect for us. We enjoyed the sunny deck and just sitting watching the lake for hours on end. We will certainly book here again if we get the chance.

We had the pleasure of staying here for four nights in August. Everything was perfect! From, the glorious weather, the clear warm lake, to the cottage itself! There wasn't anything missing , it had everything we could possibly need.We spent our days swimming, floating and jumping off the dock. At night we made fabulous meals, drank delicious wine, played guitar and laughed with our great friends! Thank you Donna for opening up your home to us! We can't wait to return! Gaye and Wayne

Beautiful lake house!
Beautiful lake house!
We just got back after a very relaxing long weekend at Whatcom Lake. The house was just perfect for us! It was equipped with everything that you might need from board games to spices for cooking. The owners even had pre-recorded movies on their PVR for you to watch which was great for the evenings. The house has a very large deck equipped with a table and chairs and loungers. We spent most of our time out on the deck as we had amazing weather! The pictures do not do it justice, the view of the sunsets from the deck is just breathtaking. The house was clean and well maintained. The owners were wonderful and very fast to reply to all enquiries before the booking. The only suggestion I have is to create a map or directions of how to get to the house as GPS and Google maps aren’t accurate. Thanks Dave and Donna, we will definitely be coming back!!

About the owner: The summer of 1961 my husband and I along with his parents enjoyed many summers on Lake Whatcom. It was a 1 room cabin and yes, even an out house!! During the summers our sons grew up at the lake learning how to swim, catch frogs, row a boat, and swing from the BIG fir tree in front of the cabin. Of course then came water skiing and other water activities. We inherited the cabin in 1984 and then added the 2 bedroom, deck, a bathroom and kitchen, this is what you will see today. 1990 the cabin became our retirement home. Our grandchildren have also enjoyed many years of enjoying the lake all year long. We have started into the 4th generation of family enjoying the lake and making family memories.
Why the Owner Chose Bellingham:
This area of the lake has a great deal of history. A coast Salish village called the Hahch-wah-ahm-eck once stood at the south end of the lake. The people were know as the Kaw-tcha-ha-muk. Today, there is no evidence of the village. Settler's began to move into the area around 1850's. The 1st private ownership claim was filed in 1858. By 1899 all the land around the lake had been claimed. In 1891 it was platted into a subdivision to be called 'Blue Canyon City'. The area had a population of approx. 1,000. A coal mine opened in 1891 and closed in 1895 due to a mine explosion that killed 23 miners. The town itself did not flourish..We call it the 'Ghost Town of Blue Canyon. You will enjoy the area as it has a lot more history to it. Hope that you are a history buff.
The Unique Benefits at this Cottage:
When fall arrives the lake takes on a complete different look and feeling. It has a quietness to it, more of a calming effect. At times the lake is like a mirror reflecting the oncoming fall colors. As the air cools the mist and fog develops a swirling/dancing effect over the water. You may hear the Canadian Geese on there way south for the winter or they may land on the lake for a rest stop Sometimes there will be Snow Geese that will stop for a visit. There is a serene and peaceful feeling that one takes in. A great place for soul-searching and just to kick back and enjoy the quietness.
