Beautiful House in Great Cove Location
Beautiful House in Great Cove Location
Whilst only a short stay on Bainbridge Island you couldn't find a more idyllic location to enjoy the Island, Seattle and surrounding area. Not only can you spend the days whiling away on the water but also visit some lovely restaurants in a friendly village style atmosphere. The house was very clean, comfortable and well equipped with a lovely deck overlooking the quiet cove. Lots of 'toys' to use both for adults and young people from kayaks to table tennis and loads of TVs. Highly Recommended

Perfect Family Vacation
Perfect Family Vacation
We had such a wonderful stay at this location on Bainbridge Island. Since our family (grandparents, children and 5 grandchildren) makes a point to carve out a week of family vacation at different locations, we wanted something close to Seattle this year. Bainbridge was a great find--it's a beautiful island, easily accessible to surrounding areas by ferry or driving and the weather was perfect in August. Our grandchildren are very young yet this property accommodated our needs quite well despite all the stairs. The added bonus of a private dock was lots of fun for the kids because of the rise and fall of the tides--i.e. in the mornings the water was out past the dock and the children loved watching the crabs and other sealife. Everything was clean and well maintained and Heidi was quite helpful with all our needs.

Owner response: We are glad you enjoyed your time on the island and look forward to having you return one day.
Home was exactly as photos show...clean and very roomy...location is great...peaceful and quiet... I would give this rental a five but for two concerns.....1.The strong odor of the well water in the home...make sure you bring plenty of bottled water...gagged trying to rinse after brushing...use bottled water...we didn't feel like we smelled clean after showering/shampoo.....this may not bother some persons tho..... One other small issue....would love to have had screens on bedroom windows to be able to have open of night..(..they do have mosquitos),,,would loved to have the fresh air of a night.....it did get stuffy as temps got into the 80's and no fans....(my daughter did go buy one to use in their room) Everything else was very well equipped....everything and more provided in kitchen....

Owner response: Thank you for your review. We're glad you found the house as advertised. We understand your concern about the water but as we live on an island where the water comes from a well the water is much softer than that found in towns. We appreciate your other suggestion on having fans available. This year the weather has been much hotter than usual so we haven't had the need for fans. However at your suggestion we have purchased fans and have them available. Also we have put the screens back on the windows per your suggestion. They were in the garage. Lastly we haven't had a problem with mosquitos in recent years as the cove is tidal and normally mosquitos are prevalent around still water. We will make sure to purchase mosquito repellent candles for our other guests. Again thank you for taking the time to write a review and we're glad you found the house exactly as the pictures showed.
What a find "Fantastic"
What a find "Fantastic"
We chose this house for our family vacation to Bainbridge. It was everything as advertised and more. The waterfront location was perfect, yet close to many sightseeing spots and restaurants. The view of bay from the front "HUGE" deck with a cup of morning coffee was a nice way to start the day. The house was immaculate. It was beautifully furnished with a decorator touch for detail, yet very comfortable and welcoming with all the amenities you could want. It was a relaxing place to return to after a busy day of touring. The kitchen had everything we needed for cooking a dinner "at home." The master bedroom had a wonderfully comfortable bed and the master bath was big and luxurious. We loved the high quality sheets and towels. The house also had plenty of space for everyone to spread out and relax. This house helped make our family vacation very special. We hope to stay again on our next trip to Bainbridge! Well done Morag and Mike, we will be back.

Wonderful Home Away from Home
Wonderful Home Away from Home
We left rain at home in the Midwest to fly to sunny Seattle and ferry over to beautiful Bainbridge Island. Even before we arrived we knew we had found a gem - the home's caretaker is so welcoming, knowledgeable about the area and eager to do anything she can to prepare you for a wonderful vacation. We could not have been more pleased with the house. Very well appointed, truly a home away from home. We settled in so smoothly even with 3 kids who loved all the creature comforts of the house, especially the hot tub, and delighted in swimming from the dock, kayaking, and watching for wildlife in the cove. Don't miss the nearby Bloedel Nature Preserve where we saw two bald eagle parents caring for their growing eaglet. After our visit there some members of our party even noticed the eagles coming to Hidden Cove to fish for their young. There is so much to do in the Pacific Northwest in general and on Bainbridge Island in particular that we already have a long list for our next trip out there as soon as we can make it and staying in this home again would be a delight.

Great time on Bainbridge!
Great time on Bainbridge!
Had a great time with family of 11. House was perfect and in a great location. Easy to use the ferry to go back and forth to Seattle and nice to get back to the island after a long day of sightseeing to relax. Only ten minutes from ferry and you can also go north to experience the little towns there. Will definitely be back!!

The best house I've ever rented
The best house I've ever rented
We live in Portland and were looking for a house to rent for a getaway with our 5 boys. This property was perfect. The house is gorgeous! The kitchen has everything you need for cooking and dining. The outdoor dining and grill station is great. The view of the protected cove is pristine, with beautiful calm water and amazing sunsets. Our children loved catching crabs off the docks and exploring out in the row boat and were excited to spot some sea otters! There were also kayaks available, which we did not end up using. Soaking in the hot tub at night was a relaxing end to our days spent in Seattle. It is convenient to the Ferry to Seattle, which is about a 30 minute ferry ride. From the moment we arrived and were greeted by Heidi, we felt at home-away-from-home. She was so hospitable and was available to meet any needs during our stay. Extra touches like fresh flowers in the rooms and snacks upon arrival were much appreciated! I can't say enough about this property. I've rented other properties from this site in various locations and this was hands-down the best! We enjoyed every moment of our stay and are looking forward to returning in the future.

Owner response: Cheryl, Sounds like you had a great time and Heidi took good care of you and your family. We hope to see you back soon. Morag and Mike
This is a truly luxury property that more than accurately reflects the VRBO description and photos. The family found the location in the cove both beautiful and relaxing. The equipment and facilities at the property kept us all entertained and interested for the days we were not out sight-seeing. Sight-seeing in Seattle and the mountains beyond was easily accessible via the frequent ferries. The remote parts of the Olympic Peninsula were also easily accessible by bridge off the north end of the island. The island has a number of very good restaurants that are worth visiting. We were pleased how clean and well maintained the house was and the few questions we did have were promptly answered by the owners. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property to family and friends.

Wow! Where do I start? The house is situated right on the basin of Hidden Cove and has the most amazing outlook across it. My freinds and I spent most of our time gazing across the cove watching the eagles and seals. The outdoor deck is really as good as the photos (probably better if I am honest!) and we spent many great nights laughing, drinking, eating and telling stories till it was time for bed. The interior of the house is great. We bagged the Master Suite which has amazing light and views again of the cove. Our friends stayed in the Guest suite, which has its own balcony, it is not as big as the master suite but certainly makes up for it in the view. The Kitchen area was a great place to spend time cooking, it had everything you needed (and more) and there was plenty of room for us all to hang out. The lounge is open plan with the dining room, which again has superb views of the cove. We didn't use the dining room as we spent all of our time on the deck. My highlight was taking the double kayak for a paddle each day up the cove and around treasue island which is a great way to see all the other houses and wildlife! Need to mention 'Heidi' who was our 'check in' host who met us on arrival and showed us how everything worked and answered any questions we had. She also gave us some great tips for breakfast spots, restaurants and things to do and see whilst we were here. She also left us with what can only be described as a 'goodie pack' that had nibbles, beer, waters, juice, wine and other essentials. What a great touch! I love this place and I have already booked to come back for the month of September next year! So glad I can work anywhere as long as there is good internet (which by the way it was!).

About the owner: We currently live between the UK and Seattle, spending the majority of our vacation back on Bainbridge Island. We lived in the house for a number of years before we bridged the pond.
Why the Owner Chose Bainbridge Island:
The house is just in a stunning location with great views of the basin of Hidden Cove. We love to entertain and have created the house and decks to maximise the views whilst eating superb food and sipping great wines with our friends and family. We are very active during the day, so spend a lot of time on the water, either sailing or kayaking. We have easy access to a number of excellent golf courses (White Horse, Trophy Lakes, Chambers Bay) and for some action the Mountain Biking by Port Gamble is fantastic for an adrenalin rush. To relax we soak up the views in the soothing hot tub, with a glass of champagne before we engage in a quick ping pong championship! Then comes the cooking of dinner on the gas BBQ on the deck followed by the stunning views the outdoor eating area offers. We enjoy watching the sun go down with a cocktail whilst looking out for eagles, egrits, herons, harbour seals, otters and many other animals and birds. Just heaven!
