Kaaawa house description
Serenely situated between the mountains and the ocean, this comfortable country cottage rests on twelve thousand square feet of property fenced on all four sides. Exiting the home from the rear porch and patio you can enjoy the beautiful Ko’olau Mountain Range with Kuu'loa Ranch in the back. The beach can be viewed from the front of the property and is one of Oahu’s loveliest. The beach is a short distance from the home and is accessed by a common thoroughfare. Not only is the beach a favorite of the Ka'a'awa locals it is a safe area to swim, snorkel, paddleboard and kayak as it has a protected reef. The beach offers solitude as not many locals and others frequent it. At night you will be lulled to sleep by the sound of the ocean. This home is well suited especially to families and children.
The large back yard has a breadfruit tree from which two tire swings have been hung for the enjoyment of children and the young at heart and a shaded and cool area for the adults to relax.
After coming from the beach there is an outdoor hot and cold water shower situated on the sidewall of the house.
The back patio has about 600 square feet of covered area for entertaining, and has a table and chairs for outdoor lounging. Off to the side is a storage area and toilet.
The kitchen has been completely renovated in 2012 with ceramic tile floors, granite counter tops, a large kitchen sink, cabinets outfitted w/lots of storage space, a full range stove and oven, a full-sized refrigerator/freezer with ice maker. The dining area has a dining table to seat six and a microwave oven. The living room and hallway are carpeted. The comfortable couch will provide sleeping for 1 additional person. There are 3 bedrooms with a queen, full, and 2 twin beds in each of the rooms respectively. Two of the rooms have full-sized dressers and all three rooms have closets. The 2 bathrooms with toilet and wash basin in the master bedroom and the main bathroom with bathtub/shower, toilet, wash basin and storage cabinet were renovated in 2012 as well with ceramic tile floors and granite counter top. The home has solid hardwood oak flooring throughout.
This home was built in the late 1960’s by the original owners whose passions for fishing and love of the ocean and gardening brought them to this spot which they believed to be truly “paradise on earth”. This home continues to be owned and maintained by the original owner’s descendants with gratefulness and love of the home and land.
Kuu'loa Ranch offers horseback trail rides, ATV ride tours, jungle tours, and paniolo (Hawaiian) BBQ’s. The ranch has been the site of many movies including 'Jurrasic Park', 'King Kong', 'Lost', '50 First Dates', and current hit TV Series - Hawaii 5-0. The ranch provides movie set tours.

Peaceful Country Home
Peaceful Country Home
My wife and two small children stayed at this peaceful country home for 5 nights in October. The home was everything the listing described, and so much more. Comfortable, clean, well maintained, quiet, peaceful, spacious. Having my morning coffee on the back porch of the (very large) back yard -- watching my son play on the tire swing -- looking up at the Ko'olau mountains was nothing short of a surreal experience. The house is only one block from the beach, so my family and I enjoyed daily swims in the ocean. We kept saying to each other, "It feels like we are in Tahiti, not on Oahu." That said, we drove into Waikiki for dinner, and it was only a 45 min drive. Unreal! 45 min away from absolute solitude was a busy city with unlimited entertainment/food options. Win-win. A pleasant surprise was the easy of communication with the owners. They were prompt, polite and thorough. A+ communication. We wanted a relaxing vacation, and this home was a great place for us to experience it. I definitely recommend this property.

Owner response: Thanks so much for staying at our home and very happy our home was very comfortable for you. We love the beach ourselves; we take our grand children all the time. So calm and uncrowded. Hope to have you come back and stay with us should you have an opportunity to vacation on Oahu again.
We had a wonderful time in this lovely house. It is what the website describes and more. Located short of a walk to the beach and very quiet and friendly neighborhood, the house is immaculately clean and comfortably fits my family of 6 with its 3 bedroom. We appreciate the fully equipped kitchen as we love to prepare our own meal in lieu of eating out. The airy living room with a big screen TV and the Wi-Fi was a big plus although we spent most of our time relaxing in the covered lanai in the back. The owners (Colin and Diane) gave us a VIP treatment from the time we made our reservation until a week after check out. They were very accommodating to our early check-in request and went overboard to get the house ready for us. Your guys are awesome. Special thanks to Diane for letting us pick a “bread fruit” from the tree behind the house. We had our first Hawaiian delicious treat. We are so lucky that we chose this property to spend our first Hawaiian trip that is full of fun and excitement. Overall experience is so great that we will recommend this place to all our friends and family. We will DEFINITELY stay here again on our next Hawaiian vacation.

Home Away from Home
Home Away from Home
What a wonderful house and location! After spending several days in Honolulu (busy, noisy, crowded), Kaaawa was the perfect place to be for the remainder of our vacation. The house was very comfortable and immaculately maintained – good beds, nice linens, drawers and closets with room to unpack, and a fully equipped kitchen for eating in. The backyard is large and has a gorgeous view of the mountain range – in fact it is more than a “view” – it is just on the other side of the back fence and a lovely place to hang out on the shaded lanai or swing from the tree. The house is in a “real” Hawaii neighborhood, which was refreshing after our city stay in Honolulu. It is a quick walk to a beautiful beach – which we always felt we had mostly to ourselves. We never saw more than three to five people on the beach when we were there – at different times of the day. We had an amazing experience – we saw a monk seal resting on the beach – which apparently is not common. The only other walker on the beach that morning waited to talk to us about the monk seal – which made it even more special. And we spotted a young sea turtle under the waves on another day. Kaaawa is a great base location – to go to the North Shore or south to Honolulu. Great value for the money! We will return for a longer stay on our next trip.

Lovely Country Beach Home
Lovely Country Beach Home
My husband and I had a lovely time at this Kaaawa country beach home this summer. Surrounded by tropical banana trees and palms, and embraced by magnificent Hawaiian mountains to the rear, this extremely comfortable, efficient and tidy cottage was the perfect spot for us. Light and airy, it also accommodated our family in three full bedrooms. Convenient in amenities as well as location, we walked a short block to the beach. Also enjoying nearby Uncle Bobos Hawaiian BBQ restaurant, we found it very authentic. Taking bus 52 from the beach park to the Polynesian Cultural Center, BYU, and the Laie Temple was fun, economical and a breeze. A week later, we bid farewell to paradise by again hopping on the bus to Waikiki and the interesting Ala Moana Mall. We definitely give this secret pearl with its airy feel the highest of all rankings, five stars, and we will be returning!

Exactly What We Imagined
Exactly What We Imagined
This was our first trip to Hawaii and we couldn't have picked a better place. The house was perfect for our family of six (ages 13 - 42). The house was nice, clean, comfortable, and fully furnished with the basic necessities. The gated yard was big and beautiful. We had a couple of nights with some noisy neighbors. The owners where very nice and helpful. The only thing we would've liked was an A/C (but we are from Alaska so maybe it was just us :) ). Ka'a'awa was exactly what you imagine when you picture that small, easy going Hawaiian town. It was right in the middle between the busy Waikiki city and the adventurous North Shore. There was is a beautiful beach right across the street. The only thing we would have to say is that be prepared to drive. There isn't much to do in Ka'a'awa, but with a 30 - 60 minute drive you are somewhere else. We would DEFINITELY stay here again!!

Perfect Real Hawaiian vacation.
Perfect Real Hawaiian vacation.
This was exactly what we were looking for. A well kept little house in a beautiful spot on a remote section of the island half-way between the hustle of places like Kailua to the south and Haliewa on the north shore. Property was clean and comfortable. This is not a 5 star resort, but a little bungalow that is perfect for a family with kids, that doesn't mind eating meals at the house and BBQing in the beautiful back yard.

Home was beautifully maintained and very well stocked with the things found in your own home. Photos showing home were accurate, however the pictures of the moutains behind the did not do the scenery justice. If you are looking for a place to truly relax and get away from the craziness of Waikiki, this is the place for you.

About the owner: Born and raised in Hawaii. Have lived on the windward side of Oahu since the 1970's. My spouse and I have 3 children and 5 grandchildren
Why the Owner Chose Kaaawa:
This property has been owned by my family since the 1960's. It continues to provide wonderful weekends for my husband and myself, children and grandchildren since it is so close to one of the best beaches on the island. My daughter and I had an opportunity to acquire it when the trust decided to offer it for sale. 'Kaimalino' means calm, quiet ocean at low tide - our daughters have fond memories spent enjoying the beach and ocean with Tutu and Tutu Papa.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The property is large and fenced on 4 sides. The beautiful beach is a short walk away. Very quiet in the day and evenings. Magnificent mountain view.
