The Mountain View Retreat is a beautifully rustic, conveniently modern large home on a very private acre on the Deschutes River just south of the world-famous Sunriver Resort. If you are attracted to the spectacular Cascade Mountain region of central Oregon, this is the perfect place to take advantage of all it has to offer. The five bedroom, three bath house is situated right on the river, overlooking a wildlife-rich peninsula created by a large bend in the Deschutes. Deer, elk, otter, foxes, chipmunks, eagles, ducks and geese, and many other species of birds are in regular view. Downriver a view of Mt. Bachelor, with its world-class ski resort, opens up, along with views of other nearby mountains.
We have two other houses on adjacent riverside properties, one smaller and one larger. If this one doesn't quite suit you, or you need to accommodate a large group, check out The Cottage - VRBO 153385 and The Riverside Lodge - VRBO 153403. With all three houses, groups of 40+ can be accommodated.
The main floor has over 1000 square feet of connected living area with a living room, dining room with seating for 12 or more, and country kitchen with both an eating and sitting area. This opens out onto a log deck that runs the length of the house, overlooking the river, with lounge chairs and a dining table. Two of the three upstairs bedrooms open into their own bath. All upstairs rooms except one have river views. Nine can sleep comfortably on this level if the futons are used.
Downstairs are two additional bedrooms, a bathroom, and a game room with a pool table and a log bunk bed. All rooms have river views. Six can sleep comfortably down here. The hot tub, dock, and the deck overhanging the river are all accessed from the upper deck, or through the game room.
The sixth bedroom, with a queen bed, is in a separate building next to the garage. Access to a bathroom from this bedroom requires going through the garage, but the bathroom is less than 40 feet away. The basic rental for the house does not include this bedroom, but it can be rented with the house, beginning May 1, 2012, for only $30 additional per night.

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes
Our family loves Central Oregon, with all of the recreational opportunities, great weather, and convenience to our home in Eugene, OR. We also love river and mountain views, and this property is one of the rare riverfront properties over here that is on the river with great mountain views. It is also a very private location--only four houses on our private road, three of them ours for vacation rentals.

We love this property for its outstanding views, privacy, the Deschutes River for floating, fishing or swimming, easy access to hiking and biking trails, and the close proximity (5 miles) or Sunriver Resort will all the amenities such as golf and tennis courses, swimming pools, bike trails, restaurants, groceries and shops.

This was our 6th year at this home and we absolutely love it! There is plenty of room for everyone, the price is reasonable, you feel at home and it has a great view! We do miss Rudy, the dog though!
