Welcome to the tropical, lush, windward side of Hawaii's Big Island. This is true oceanfront with 180-degree ocean views. You can see all the way to Hilo and the top of Mauna Kea while sitting by your Solar heated in-ground pool. We do not have a beach directly in front of our home but we are within easy driving distance to several black sand beaches, well known geothermal hot ponds and World class snorkeling at the Kapoha Tide Pools.
It is a wonderful location to whale watch (December to April). At night you can hear the whales singing. Year round turtles, dolphins, and other marine life, plus cruise ships, passing by keep the view always interesting. Coffee on the lanai as you see the sun rise over the ocean is magical as the light dances on the ocean waves! Rainbows over the water and the evening colors are what we love so much and never tire of.
We offer a 2-story spacious 3000 square foot home as a vacation rental, that can accommodate up to 8 people. As you enter the street level portion of the house you feel like you have stepped onto a cruise ship. The downstairs unit is accessible by interior stairway, but also has it's own separate and private entrance, so upstairs and downstairs people in your party can enjoy each other and yet maintain desired privacy. Here is a partial list of what will be offered:
- Four Bedrooms: Upstairs - #1 Ocean view Master Suite with king bed, private bath with walk-in shower and lanai - #2 bedroom/office with high speed Internet and comfortable queen sleeper. A half bath is adjacent to this bedroom. Downstairs - #1 Ocean view King bedroom -#2 Ocean view bedroom with Two Twin beds (or adjusted to become king size for an added $25. fee)
- Upstairs: Spacious modern kitchen, complete with all necessities for cooking and serving up 8 guests. This large kitchen flows directly into the dining room with a large expandable oak dining room set.
- Downstairs: kitchenette also well supplied so downstairs guests in your party could also independently cook, (no oven range or dishwasher in downstairs unit)
- 3 bathrooms: Upstairs: Full bath and 1/2 - Downstairs: Full bath and outdoor shower. (outdoor shower has hot and cold water) We provide bath towels and hair dryers in both full sized bathrooms
- 3 Ocean view lanais - Upstairs: #1 with outdoor table and chair set. #2 south side of the living room and adjoins master bedroom suite. Downstairs: huge lanai with lava rock BBQ by the pool including teak table and chairs.
- Private Solar heated pool with chairs, lounges and cushions.
- 3 TVs with satellite reception - Two DVD players
- Private parking for up to four cars, street level directly in front of house. No steps to main level. One step and inclined paved pathway to downstairs unit, when using the separate entrance.
- Private phone line up and downstairs with unlimited US long distance
-Many extras: snorkel equipment, pool noodles, coolers, beach chairs and mats, towels. Boogie boards also available- If we haven't mentioned something, just ask we may have forgotten to include it in our information
-Rates starting at $125 per night depending upon length of stay and number of people
We can offer advice and directions to any of the wonderful things to see in this area. The volcano, hot ponds, black sand beaches, world-class snorkeling, waterfalls, steam vents, and many other treasures of the area. If you just want to relax, a nap in the hammock listening to the ocean waves or a massage by the sea can be arranged.
We are convenient to Hilo airport and can send you maps via e-mail. There is shopping and restaurants in nearby Pahoa, Keauu, and Hilo.
Due to 30 foot cliffs overlooking the ocean and the corresponding danger - we do not recommend this rental for people with young children. Arrivals 3:00 PM or after. 10:00 AM departure unless other arrangements have been made.

Year Purchased: 2004
We are Stan and Christine Schierman. Moved to Hawaii in 2001 from Bandon, Oregon. Stan is a retired Air Force Officer and worked as a teacher at the local high school here on the Big Island and Chris is a Registered Nurse. We have two adult sons one working for Lockheed/Martin in Denver and one attending the University of Hawaii. We love meeting people from all over the world with our rental on the ocean.
Why the Owner Chose Hilo
We chose this area because of the incredible 180 degree views of the coastline and the fact that it is right in the middle of the "real" Hawaii. Not as tourist oriented as Waikiki - but beautiful in every way. We also enjoy the laid back quiet atmosphere of this area.
The Unique Benefits of this Oceanfront Home
Chris adds so many personal touches from home grown tropical flowers (grown on a couple of acres we have in the nearby jungle) to home-made banana bread and lilikoi chocolate cake. Also, while repecting privacy, we are available to answer any questions you might have about the island. We love the personal contact and enjoy learning about different areas on the mainland as well as the rest of the world.
