Redmond house description
Gather family and friends for a relaxing week overlooking the beautiful Cascade Mountains. Whether you’re looking for a few peaceful days in the country or a base to return to after a day of site-seeing, Storybook Farm is perfect for your holidays needs.
The wrap-around porch with deep chairs is the ideal place to watch a quiet sunrise with a cup of warm coffee.
During the day, you can venture into Seattle to see the sites, take a boat trip, or do some shopping. If the great outdoors is more appealing there is plenty of nearby hiking, fishing, and even para-gliding.
Finally, a glass of Washington state wine enjoyed in the gazebo while the kids fish in our stocked trout pond will let you wind down and forget any cares.

About: We've lived in Washington State for over forty years and love the Pacific Northwest. We bought this property as a labor of love to be our family home where we could relax and the kids and grandkids could gather. We are engineers by training and enjoy home design as a hobby so the house is built to exacting standards and attention to every detail. We love to hike in the nearby mountains, sail on Lake Washington and in Puget Sound, and play golf on the wide variety of nearby courses. We are passionate about wine and like nothing better than to gather our friends in the evenings to share a bottle and a meal. Storybook Farm really is our happy ending and we would love to share its magic so it becomes part of your story too.
The property was originally homesteaded in the 1870s under the Homestead Act. We are only the third owners since then. The farm was once a dairy farm. While the cows are long gone, we restored the 1939 red barn in 2002 and use it for big family parties and events. In 2011 we built a new chicken coop to house our flock of free range chickens that provide eggs for the farm. We have a fantastic orchard that provides us with plums and apples in the autumn. We worked closely with the Department of Ecology to restore an old salmon run in Patterson Creek that had been damaged over the years. We were very excited when the first salmon began to return. This is a peaceful place for relaxing but still near enough the city for restaurants, theatre, and site-seeing.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
The house sits atop a hill looking out over the valley and away to the Cascades. The only thing better than enjoying a cup of coffee and watching the sunrise over the mountains in the morning from the wrap-around porch is having a glass of wine in the gazebo in the evening while the children run around on the lawn or find blueberries in the garden. Each of the bedrooms has its own personality and feel. Our eldest daughter has always liked the porch bedroom best with its sunrise views and dual headed shower. Our younger daughter always chooses the pond bedroom where she can open the curtains and watch the herons dive for fish before enjoying the whirlpool tub. We've always liked the garden bedroom with its views of the English style garden as well as the pond. In the evenings we all like to play board games around the kitchen table or in the den downstairs. The foosball tournaments have been known to get competitive and loud. Sing-alongs around the piano in the conservatory are a favourite way to pass the time after dinner as well.
