In 2004, my husband and I finished building the first two floors of our three-floor cottage. It's been our dream for 20 years to build a house in Maine. We are sure that once you experience it you will love Woodberry Cottage (named after my Dad) as much as we do.
Woodberry is a furnished three story cottage with front entrance on the main level and walk-out lower (unfinished) level. The main floor has a living room with fireplace and hardwood floor; dining area with table for eight; large, well-equipped kitchen with island and stools; master bedroom with water view, walk-in closet and a full bathroom.
Two bedrooms and bath are upstairs. The east bedroom includes two twin beds, dresser, arm chair, low boy dresser and bookcase. The west bedroom has a queen bed, dresser, sofa, desk, rocking chair and bookcase. A large bathroom is shared by these two bedrooms. Both bedrooms have water views.
Downstairs you'll find a washer/dryer, ironing board and iron. A portable grill is kept downstairs for outdoor cooking. Eventually there will be two more bedrooms, a bathroom and a den. The lower level is unfinished, though there is an operable toilet there for emergency use.
The water side of the house faces northwest so sunsets are visible through the trees from the living room. A large deck with glass enclosure and a covered screened-in porch make outside rocking and reading a pleasure. A short walk to the shore rewards you with a breathtaking view of the sunset over Eagle Island and the Camden Hills in the background.
The house is wheelchair friendly with a ramp to the front porch and 3'-0" wide doors on the main floor. It is not handicap accessible in the legal sense. |
