Location: Deer Isle, Acadia, Maine, USA (1.5 hours from Bangor; on the NW Coast of Deer Isle)
Accommodations: Cottage Home built 2004, 5 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths (Sleeps 6-10)
In 2004, my husband and I finished building the first two floors of our three-floor cottage. It's been our dream for 20 years to build a house in Maine. We are sure that once you stay here you will love Woodberry Cottage (named after my Dad) as much as we do.
Woodberry is a furnished three story cottage with front entrance on the main level and walk-out lower (unfinished) level. The main floor has a living room with fireplace and hardwood floor; dining area with table for eight; large, well-equipped kitchen with island and stools; master bedroom with water view, walk-in closet and a full bathroom.
Two bedrooms and large bath are upstairs. The east bedroom includes two twin beds, dresser, arm chair, low boy dresser and bookcase. The west bedroom has a queen bed, dresser, sofa, desk, rocking chair and bookcase. Both bedrooms have water views.
Downstairs you'll find a washer/dryer, ironing board and iron. A portable grill is kept downstairs for outdoor cooking. At present there are two spartan, but usable, bedrooms on this level and the unfinished bathroom does have an operable toilet. These accommodations would suffice for non-fussy folks.
The water side of the house faces northwest. Sunsets are visible through the trees from the living room. A large deck with glass "rails" and a covered screened-in porch make outside rocking and reading a pleasure. A short walk (75') to the shore rewards you with a breathtaking view of the sunset over Eagle Island with the Camden Hills in the background.
The house is wheelchair friendly with a ramp to the front porch and 3'-0" wide doors on the main floor. It is not handicap accessible in the legal sense.

A note received from a satisfied rentor. "I never felt like I had the opportunity to let you know just how much we enjoyed our experience in Maine last week. The Woodberry Cottage was beyond our dreams for a place to enjoy a longed for vacation with our grown sons and daughter-in-law. WE LOVED IT. Even the way the owners have furnished it was so our taste. It was [as] if we had picked everything out ourselves. Your office was so accommodating and friendly. We hope the towel bar that came loose was not too difficult to fix. I only wrote a quick note in the guest book [at the cottage], but wondered if you would please pass on to the owners, how gracious we feel they are in sharing this "home away from home" with strangers. We hope to return. With sincerest thanks, Mary Shingler"

"Thanks for sharing your little slice of heaven with us! There is a lot of missing wine, lobster and blueberry pie on the island - we consumed all possible. Also, the mail boat [out to Eagle Island] is great fun."

"What a beautiful place. Love the floor plan and all of your details. We would recommend Old Quarry for a kayak tour ... lots of fun on the 1/2 day tour ... swam at an old quarry on one of the islands. Added a piece of blue to your sea-glass bottle. Thanks again for sharing your home."

"We had a wonderful relaxing week in your lovely home. Maine showed us almost all its weather and we loved it. We looked over Maine Maritime Academy, where our daughter hopes to study."

"Thank you for sharing your lovely home. Unfortunately, the rains never stopped. Don't miss Carter's Cockatoo - loads of fun and great food. Great time in spite of the rain. Thanks for going the extra mile."
