Property description

Life at Redemption Cabin is a storybook mountain village experience.

Situated in the midst of endless adventure, Redemption was born out of a picture perfect one-of-a-kind natural setting. It remains so today with its massive granite boulders, rocky perches, towering trees, dappled sunlight, song bird sanctuary, rushing emerald waters as clear & cold as their glacial lakes, and full spectrum of Rocky Mountain wildlife.

Circa 1914, Redemption has had a storied existence. It’s living history. The cabin logs were harvested, hauled to site, cut, stacked, spiked & chinked into walls by pioneers in the likes of John Cleave- the Park’s first permanent merchant, Enos Mills- the naturalist credited as the Father of Rocky Mountain National Park, and F.O. Stanley- the industrialist, co-inventor of the Stanley Steamer & visionary who had a big hand in shaping Estes Park as it is today. Despite all the change of the past 100 years, Redemption Cabin, shroud in nature's glory & simple humility, is still one of the most wild and beautiful places between sea & shining sea. Both Redemption and RMNP are celebrating their 100 year anniversaries.

Redemption sits on prime natural real estate. It’s is nestled under rocky crags & cliffs on the west side of Little Prospect Mountain at the southern tip of historic downtown Estes Park. It’s a gateway to Estes & Rocky Mountain National Park. The property has large Blue Spruce, Ponderosa Pine and Balsam Poplar trees. Its picturesque all seasons. Redemption fronts a wide open bank of a mountain stream, the Big Thompson River. Rainbow trout school in sandy holes just feet away. It’s a rare opportunity to experience the full essence of 'Colorful Colorado' from one simple, easy to get to, extraordinarily special place.

Getting to downtown, and to the very best Estes Park has to offer, is a simple downstream stroll along a cabin filled lane. Entrance into Rocky Mountain National Park, its wilderness, alpine lakes, trails and spectacular scenery is just a few miles west upstream.

Good times are all around. Great mountain vistas also surround. Backyard or back country, wildlife is unsurpassed --- colorful trout, song birds, chipmunks, rabbits, raptors, bobcat, turkey, deer, elk, black bear & moose have all been observed and caught on camera there.

The Cabin is equipped with fine period furniture, treasured artifacts, hiking maps & historical books, a complete new kitchen, pantry supplies, kitchen condiments, clean luxury linens, Italian tiled bathroom with walk-in shower, and special lighting, amenities & finishes throughout. It provides a clean, restful, Eco-friendly and smoke-free environment.

Redemption welcomes all travelers who care for it like their own. It is most suitable for singles, honeymooners, couples, friends & small families seeking adventure, a sabbatical or natural escape.

Words cannot fully express what awaits you at Redemption Cabin. To be sure, you will have an authentic mountain village experience that is pure pleasure. It comes with modern & inventive amenities, unpretentious charm, the historical character of a hand finished old-growth floor, and value tales that refresh and inspire.

We invite you to experience Redemption and it's spectacular environment ... distinctive snow carved alpine terrain, rich sustaining mountain streams, unforgettable moments & wonderful sleep ... simple nature in perfect harmony. We will do everything we can to insure your senses are reignited, your body refreshed, your mind retooled, your heart rejuvenated & your life perfectly reset; the promise of Redemption at its best.

Bending north just before it reaches Redemption, it heads to the center of Town. Then at Confluence Park it bends back East, and together with Fall River, gives the beautiful Riverwalk its name. About a ½ a mile on, its waters are held in Lake Estes by the Olympus Dam before being released into the Big Thompson Canyon. We are also a Home of Champions. Owner info

Year Purchased: 2011

About the owner: Rick & Cheryl Grigsby first discovered Estes Park in 1983 and returned year after year whenever they could. During the Fall of 1997, they moved to the Estes Valley on sabbatical from 'private practice' in Texas & Oklahoma. Curiously, they never went back; at least not on their love for the Park's picture-perfect natural settings and diverse backdrops for an adventure-filled faith-based life. Cheryl raised their 3 kids and exercised her gift of teaching. By late 2000, they had designed & built a mountain home exacting to its rocky terrain and their growing young family. Each day began with a new morning. By the Spring of 2009, Rocky Mountain Memories [RMMemories.com] had taken physical form. After the Park Theatre Fire, they rebuilt. Like RMM, Redemption Cabin represents their creativity, attention to detail, gifts of hospitality and faith. Rick will serve as your caretaker and guide. He is an avid hiker. Cheryl teaches paper arts at the shop. RMM is on Riverwalk upstream from Convergence Park.

Why the Owner Chose Estes Park:
'Everybody needs beauty as well as bread, places to play in and pray in, where nature may heal and give strength to body and soul.' John Muir Redemption is in a storybook natural setting.

The Unique Benefits at this Cabin:
The Property is a great place for quiet times & solitude. Or, for the active outdoorsman, it doubles as a great base camp to experience Estes Park & Rocky Mountain National Park at their fullest. Glorious mountain vistas, rocky crags & outcrops, trees, rivers, birds, wildlife, treasured collection of maps, books, art, & outdoors sporting gear are all around.
