Warm, comfortable very nicely decorated! The location is the perfect area for quiet walks to the point, kayaking, biking around the approx 3 mile route, or just sitting in the backyard bird watching. The property is very clean and the kitchen invites some wonderful lobster dinners. Will definitely return!

Peaceful coastal retreat!
Peaceful coastal retreat!
We enjoyed a week-long stay at this cottage last summer. We wanted to experience the coastal character of Maine in a less touristy place and spend time kayaking and relaxing in the beautiful surroundings...this location certainly fulfilled our expectations! The cottage was clean, comfortable, and well equipped for cooking, lounging, and exploring. The owners were friendly and provided helpful information on local activities, kayaking, and good restaurants in the area. We had fun exploring the nearby small islands and beaches by kayak, hiking to a scenic points on Blue Hill, visiting the WoodenBoat School down the road, and having fresh lobster for dinner. In the evening, fireflies twinkled against the backdrop of the surrounding woods. Watching the full moon rising over the water at Naskeag Point was also quite a spectacular sight. We would definitely recommend this place for a relaxing getaway!

Beautiful and relaxing
Beautiful and relaxing
I spent a week at this wonderful "away from it all" home in June of 2012. Everything is comfortable inside and out. The grounds are beautiful and well maintained. The owners were easy to work with and our plans went very smoothly. Everything is fairly close, stores, library, restaurants, lobster and fresh fish. You can easily and safely bike or walk on the area roads. Close to beach, swimming, kayaking or fishing. Very safe. The house is well kept and nicely furnished, clean and well maintained. The photos are true to fact. The listing is accurate.

About the owner: My husband and I were searching for a place to retire on the East coast. I grew up in Connecticut and lived in Scarborough Maine while working at Maine Medical Center many years ago. Currently we live in northern California in a small seaside town named Bolinas. We spend 3-6 wks /year at our Maine home and always wish we could stay longer. My husband is a designer/builder, inventor and writer. He grew up in southern California. I am a Nurse Practitioner for family practice and also a Nurse in labor and delivery. We met on the island of Maui nearly 25 years ago and love Maine for all of it's individuality, beauty and unique spirit.
Why the Owner Chose Brooklin:
I always wanted a place back east when we found this perfect cape in Brooklin and when we stood out at Naskeag Point at low tide we were sold. The property is approximately 2 acres with gardens, a wonderful lawn, surrounded by a beautiful white pine forest. It is peaceful and quiet. The interior is decorated with local antiques, comfy couches, chairs and beds. It always feel like 'coming home' when we enter. There is plenty of room for everyone to enjoy privacy as well as entertaining in the kitchen or out the sliding doors to the lawn. The basement is very large for parking a car and storing equipment such as kayaks or bikes.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
We love the access to kayaking around the nearby islands and bicycling the back roads of Brooklin. We get our lobster fresh from the boats that come in to Naskeag Point as it continues to be a working harbor. The sunsets from this point are spectacular, the setting is peaceful and quiet. Our home is decorated with local antiques, books, comfy beds, sofa and chairs. We are in walking distance from Wooden Boat and not far from the town of Brooklin which boasts a wonderful library, a classic general store, The Brooklin Inn and The Cave as well as several boutiques for unique jewelry and gifts.
