- You are well located at Hale Hoku'ao to explore the fathomless grandeur of the Big Island of Hawaii. The island is immense and best explored in quadrants. You can see and do as much or as little as you please and come away from this Paradise a changed person. Walk along an orchid and fern lined path to humbling waterfalls or drive up to the visitor center at Mauna Kea and look out above the clouds in all directions. Learn to surf or paddle board on the bluest water you will ever see. Photography is our passion and a big reason why we chose to retire here. The best way to improve your photography is to stand in front of better stuff. You can do that here. Golf on world class courses. See creation in progress at Kilauea. Superlatives are inadequate to describe the Big Island of Hawaii....moreless

Excellent spot for large group
Excellent spot for large group
We stayed at this home for 8 nights during Ironman week. The owner showed incredible hospitality and responsiveness towards us. The kitchen is well stocked, there are two coffee pots, multiple tvs, a grill, new washing machine, nice yard and pool. There are 5 bedrooms and one is in its own guest house with bathroom, perfect for my parents who like their privacy. The house laid out well for our needs, there are 2 adjoining bedrooms that worked out nicely for my husband and I to be near our kids. She even has a Pack n Play and highchair there. The quality of the house is very good, with new appliances, bathrooms and paint. Though we were not prepared for how hot Hawaii is, we liked the house very much and would return. The location is good as it is about 5 miles to downtown, there are beaches along Alii drive and a lot to explore on the island. It is about 45 min to Waikoloa Village where my kids did dolphin swim. I went to spa at very close by Sheraton and there are many restaurants nearby for sunset views. Great house for a family gathering, just as Kat's title says. Thanks!

Why the Owner Chose Private Homes:
Over many years we've traveled the world and experienced a wide range of vacation rentals. We bought this property for the express purpose of converting it to a vacation rental that will include the good points and none of the bad. It's centrally located, secure, and large. We've put in new plumbing, new electrical, new solar power, new comfortable beds and comfortable furniture. The pool is clean and newly re-plastered. We view the property from your eyes and make every effort to have this be the perfect venue for your vacation on our Big Island of Hawaii. The grounds are a tropical oasis. We've poured close to a million dollars into Hale Hoku'ao, and it shows. We hope you agree.
The Unique Benefits at this House:
Your personal, gated enclave retreat awaits you. Private and visually secluded by lava rock walls and tropical plantings, yet located in a quiet family neighborhood. 300 ft from the Pacific Ocean, 30 feet from the 11th Fairway of Kona Country Club's ocean course. Centrally located for exploring the Big Island. Close to grocery, gas, drugstore, etc.
