Casa Crayola has seven casitas situated in a garden setting where visitors can enjoy an afternoon reading near a fountain or relaxing inside a casita with it's Mexico-inspired décor. Five of the casitas have a bedroom and separate living room/dining area. The other two are studios.
Nestled surreptitiously behind iron doors, the noncoformist property of Carly Cross was purchased and renovated in 2004. The entrance patio contains a beautiful fountain, ancient palm trees, and is surrounded by vibrant colors of the buildings surrounding and facing the garden. All of the casitas are painted in smashing colors, blending effortlessly wall against wall, and decorated with colorful folk art, paintings, knick-knacks, and adornos from all over the world.
Many of the countertops are built-in and colored with polished cement, adding supplementary color. Her inventive mind even ensured that the television sets match the walls against which they were set so that they would not stand out as an eyesore to the colorful and whimsical rooms.
The centro of San Miguel and major shopping areas are a short five to seven minute flat walk away. Within a block are several internet cafes, two bakeries, a small has-everything store, and a pharmacy.
The casitas are available for individual rental 10 months of the year (September-June). Each casita sleeps two to four. For group rentals, the property also has a large dining room and restaurant-kitchen that could be used for family reunions, large events, on-site workshops, and more. Group rates are different than individual rentals, please inquire. |
