A three minute walk leads you straight into Moran State Park with endless trails to enjoy by foot or bicycle. Trails for every age and ability are right here on your doorstep. Take a picnic and walk with young children to the swim park and playground at Cascade Lake, or hike up Mt Constition for breathtaking views from Canada to the Olympic Peninsula. A ten minute walk takes you straight to the Historic Rosario Mansion for fine dining and music, or just simply enjoy a stroll to the Marina or the view from the deck.

We have been visiting the San Juan Islands for well over a decade, forged new friendships here and even got married at Rosario Mansion! Orcas Island is without a doubt the jewel of the San Juan Islands..... we just have to keep coming back!
Madrona House is owned by two couples. Craig, Sybil, Paul & Henriette. We all live in Portland, OR ad between us have 4 children.
Why the Owner Chose Rosario
We bought the land over 11 years ago after looking at many different areas on Orcas. None seemed "quite right", but when we found this jewel we knew instantly that it was what we had been looking for. Not thinking we would be able to afford to build a home here for many many years, we mentioned this to good friends of ours at a dinner party; an unexpected new partnership emerged. As two young couples, we joined forces and made our dreams come true and designed and built our getaway. It has even been featured in Sunset magazine!
The Unique Benefits of this House
Peace and comfort, but mostly family time with minimal disruptions of the every day "hub bub" called TV/computers/phones/chores/homework. Every time we are here we spend time reconnecting with each other. The simple pleasure of spending the day on a hike or a swim, reading together in the same room or playing games makes our memories at Madrona House priceless.
