This architect designed split-level cabin, "Mountain Laurel", is situated on a ridgetop of Hickory Nut Mountain at an elevation of 2900 feet at Gateway Mountain, a 2900 acre gated nature preserve and mountain residential community. (see Gateway link below.)
The cabin is nestled on four acres among large wild mountain Laurels surrounded by a hardwood forest with pastoral valleys and distant mountain views. Quiet surroundings allow the guest to experience the woods and her creatures with no distractions from city and traffic noise.
The cabin features two bedrooms, two baths, and a family room with a sleeper queen couch. On the upper level is the large open living, dining, and kitchen area, with a woodstove and outside deck; the master bedroom, bathroom and walk-in closet. On the lower level a guest bedroom, bathroom, family room (guest bedroom and family room both open to an adjacent private outside patio)and one-car garage.
Special features include a slated entry hall, wood flooring, wood ceilings, windows everywhere, marble tiled bathrooms, granite countertops and custom kitchen cabinets. All applicances are Kitchen-Aid. The cabin is well appointed, completely furnished and equipped and includes a washer and a dryer.
Conveniently located near Asheville and Black Mountain, in Old Fort, Gateway Mountain is an easy drive just 7 miles off Interstate 40, which situates you midway between the large city of Asheville with the famous Biltmore House and Mast General Store, 25 miles away; and, 15 miles from the resort town of Black Mountain with its quaint antique and gift shops and small eateries. Traveling south, a 30 minute scenic drive takes you to Lake Lure where you'll find family fun with a swimming beach, new water park, scenic boat tours, twilight dinner cruises, paddle boat and pontoon boat rentals. There are also several beautiful golf courses in the area.
45 minutes to historic downtown Hendersonville and nearby Flat Rock Playhouse; also near Chimney Rock Park, Mount Pisgah, and Mount Mitchell State Parks. On the Gateway Mountain property, visit our wonderful waterfall and picnic area, two lakes and a stocked fishpond and hiking trails.
