  This place is absolutely the best place to stay! The condo complex is right on two beaches.. just sunscreen the kids and spend the day snorkeling, boogie boarding and relaxing on the beach. If its not an ocean day, there are two pools that are set in the lush, beautiful gardens. We enjoyed seeing whales and sunsets from our lanai as well as a gorgeous views of the beach. The condo has been totally updated and is extremely well cared for. The owner has supplied everything that we needed and more. It really seemed that we were being pampered during our stay just because of the care that was taken in anticipating what we would possibly want. It was very easy to communicate with the owner by email and everything went very smoothly when I was booking the condo. The condo is on the third floor which wasn't a problem at all for us and made the views even better. It was a great family vacation!

  This was our best vacation by far in Hawaii, first in a privately owned unit, after several 5-star hotel stays in Oahu and Maui on previous trips; we will return for sure! Makena Surf is a small high-end gated residential complex right on the beach, with wonderful tropical gardens and very well kept grounds ( everywhere you go, you really feel like you are walking in a botanical garden), swimming pools, tennis courts, outdoor grilles and even an organic vegetable garden to be used for BBQ cooking. It is secluded and tranquil and yet steps away from world class golf courses, the Big Beach to the South, renowned restaurants, luxurious resorts such as Four Seasons and Fairmont and The Shops at Wailea, a high-end shopping center with boutiques, shops, restaurants and galleries. We LOVED the apartment: a prime South Maui location, ocean front position literally a few yards away from the beach with unobstructed views of the water with West Maui, Molokini Crater and Molokai, Lanai and Kahoolawe Islands at the horizon. The sunsets are breathtaking, whale watching from the lanai was incredible and turtle activity steps away in the water was highly visible. The unit is bright, tranquil, immaculately maintained by the owners, recently remodeled and has it all at a better price compared with its neighboring luxury resorts. We definitively highly recommend this property! PS: The only drawback of the place is that it creates a sinking feeling on the day of departure. Luckily there is a remedy by hoping on a speedy return.

  We have stayed in many places in Maui but we will come back to Makena Surf F304 in the future. This condo gives you the feel of being an owner of Maui oceanfront property. The complex is small (107 units), quiet, with a wonderful beach just steps away, closer than the walk from any Maui hotel to the beach. The condo is immaculately maintained, not worn out or dated like most Wailea/Makena hotel rooms. Sub-zero refrigerator, granite countertops, washer/dryer, gas barbeque grill on the patio, full cable TV and Wifi, there is simply nothing here that is lacking. Tremendous value for a luxury vacation.

  Makena Surf is old Hawaii...calm, peaceful, respectful of history. A place to just "be". We have stayed several times in Jim's condo; he is the perfect host! The view is not to be believed...lots of lanai time. We have seen some amazing whale action. The remodeled kitchen and baths are nicely done. The beach and main pool are steps away. Jim provides all the amenities...umbrellas, beach chairs, mats, etc. I noticed that one guest talked about elevators! Not old style! Just rent a ground floor unit if that is an issue. Big Beach is just down the road. Several great restaurants in Wailea, minutes away, as well as shopping big and small.

  We had a great stay at Makena Surf F304. The space is much bigger than it looks from the pictures on the website, and the view is way better in person. We were very pleased with the rooms and the 2 bathrooms were ideal, when sharing with teenagers. The location to the beach and snorkeling was incredible- you can't get any closer. My day would start early, coffee on the lanai and watch the sun come up, and then join the snorkelers for an hour with our reptile neighbors. It is a very popular spot for snorkeling - kids and adults, because it is so easy to reach the reef from the beach. We would see 4-6 turtles every day on the reef. The water clarity is amazing. The beach is nice too for a morning swim, and in the afternoon, the waves usually come in. I like bodyboarding, but some of us don't like waves, so we swam in the morning, when it is very calm. We would go shopping from 4-6 pm when the surf came up. I think this was actually the nicest beach we went to in all of Maui. It was "our beach" and not crowded at all. About the condo - it is very well appointed. I like the fact that they have soaps and detergent and salt and pepper - even coffee for the first morning- the Destinations Resorts people do a good job. I never had a problem cooking - the kitchen had loads of pots, pans, knives, etc. We got a load of refresher linens half way through the week, which was nice. The landscaping and gardens are very well kept. We used the pool every day, usually in the afternoon/evening. We liked the little hot tub they have too. The kids liked the pool. Most nights we liked to grill out on the lanai and eat outside and watch the sun go down. The view is really great - on a clear day you can see Molokai. But the turtles were the thing I will remember about the trip. I really can't think of a problem with this location. We all agree that the Makena Surf vacation was our best ever, and the condo was absolutely wonderful. We loved it.

  My husband and I keep coming back to Maui, the Makena Surf, and this unit. The remodelling has just made a great condo greater. The unit is spacious and comfortable, with a fully equipped kitchen. The location is as good as it gets -- on the top floor (third) looking straight out to sea. The whale watching from the lanai is superb. No binoculars needed. And the snorkeling is world-class, with easy access from a sandy beach and lots of fish, turtles, and coral once you're in the calm, clear water. We recommend this condo highly ; we can't imagine staying anywhere else on Maui.

  We have stayed at another unit in Makena Surf, but this one was fabulous. Newly renovated with great colors and decor. Everything was there, including the sun lotions! We spent lots of time on the lanai, reading and loafing. The only black mark was that we got sick at the end of our week's stay. But we were telling each other, between coughs, that this was the best place ever to recouperate...resting and reading, just like we were doing every day anyway! I would definitely recommend this property.

  OMG My family had an awesome time at this condo a couple of summers ago. The condo has everything you need. Once we stocked up at the grocery store, we spend so much time right out front of our condo snorkeling. Turtles, State fish, eels, an awesome reef just steps away. Our 10 year old daughter and niece played many hours on the beach. Big Beach is 2 miles away. We can hardly wait to return. I would recommend it to everyone. Peace

Cancellation or changes must be received 8 weeks prior to arrival for a full refund. Cancellations less than 8 weeks, forfeit two night's rental. Cancellations less than 4 weeks, forfeit 50% of rental unless room resells. Cancellations less than 2 weeks, forfeit 100% of rental unless condo resells.

$1,000 refundable deposit due within 1 week if booking. The balance is due 30 days prior to arrival.
