For a family of four including two teenagers, this was a great fit. The building and apartment were clean, comfortable and well maintained, with easy access to public transportation (cable cars to buses or BART). One teenager used the pull out couch - very comfortable and nice linens. We ate at the apartment almost every breakfast and dinner, while dining out for lunch. Fairly easy access to Trader Joe's or Safeway. Seemed very safe. Transportation passes included in the rental were nice bonus, although we had to add an extra couple of days to our because they expired in the new month. In a week we were able to do most of tourist things - rented bikes to ride over Golden Gate bridge through Sausalito to Muir Woods and ferry back from Tiburon; went to Golden Gate Park, Presidio, Alcatraz, Exploratorium, cable car museum, Ghiradellis; toured Stanford campus. Used public transportation for everything and did lots of walking, but it's very doable. Like another commenter said, perhaps finishing touches/conveniences could include one bigger mirror, bedside tables on each side of the beds to allow reading lamps/water glass, and some hooks for towels. Overall very nice and much better than hotel.

Recommended for: Families with teenagers, sightseeing, romantic getaway, tourists without a car, adventure seekers.

This place is a great location if you are going to visit San Francisco! With a cable car just out front, we started and ended almost every day with this mode of transportation. Whether it was to ride down to Fisherman’s Wharf or to the downtown district, you are not far from anywhere you wish to go. The transit passes were the icing on the cake. They allowed us to not only use the cable cars, but also the Historic Street Cars, BART, and the buses. Even if you have to purchase additional passes at the Walgreens a few blocks away (which we needed 1 more), at $29 for a full week it is a bargain. But you do not have to walk far to be in Chinatown or the Italian section. Again, you are not far from anywhere you want to go! This 2 bedroom apartment was beautiful. Everything looked brand new and very clean. It had plenty of room to stretch out and relax after a fun-filled day of being a tourist in SF. You can tell this owner takes great pride in this building and takes that extra step in making sure your visit to the area is satisfying. Before arriving, he provided us with multiple ways and approximate costs on how to get to this location. He also answered questions about other things that made us feel that sense of calmness that you look for when going to a place that is not familiar to you. Our week at this location is something we will tell our friends about, if they are heading to San Francisco.

Excellent location for exploring the city. In a quiet neighborhood and the major attractions are only a bus or cable car ride away or a medium length walk. The apartment is comfortable and has been recently updated. There are only stairs in the buildingto get to the apartment so be forewarned. The apartment was great for 2 couples with the 2 bedrooms and baths. This is our second time at this location and will stay here again on our next visit.

My husband and I and my brother and his wife shared this lovely apartment for a week. The first thing I noticed were the 1st class renovations: The owner put in top of the line Grohe faucets, Bosch dishwasher, gas stove and refrigerator and Toto low flush toilets, not to mention the granite counters. We felt completely at home here. Mike was very helpful, both before we arrived and during our stay. He even brought us an extra Bodum coffee pot because we had both decaf and caffeinated coffee drinkers! To make the apartment even more perfect, I would add a full length mirror in the front hall, and a couple more end tables in each of the rooms for suitcases and/or places to put things, and hooks for towels and robes in the 2 bathrooms. However, we did manage well without these things. The 2 complimentary transit cards were fantastic. We just bought 2 more at Walgreens so the 4 of us could have unlimited use of the cable cars and buses. We walked and rode these everywhere. The location is wonderful. As you step out the door of the building, you have a direct view of the Oakland Bridge - with a delightful light show happening every night. Ideally, people who stay here will enjoy it the most if they are in good condition. The apartment is on the 3rd floor with no elevator and the San Francisco hills right outside the door offer great opportunities to stay in shape. We highly recommend this apartment! We couldn't have been more pleased with our choice to stay here. Thanks Mike!

We chose Mike's rental based on it's location, reviews, and affordability. We had already ruled out the $250-300 per night touristy hotels in North Beach, the Embarcadero, and near the Wharf, and wanted a 2 BR/2BA to split with our other adult guest. We thought Mike's was a very incredible value, considering we had two families. First, it's walking distance to the Wharf and everything to do at the Piers. It is just south of Pacific Ave. and right on the borders of Chinatown and Little Italy. We felt completely safe here with our family. You do not need a car to stay here, nor can you really even park one in most places. There is a parking garage nearby that is $25 a day, but good luck trying to park it anywhere. Second, there are bus stops and cable car stops on the same block. Once you get their schedules down, which only really takes about a day, it's a piece of cake to travel. Mike even gives you two transit passes complimentary with your stay. They are good for all muni buses, cable cars, and light rail (streetcars) for as long as you stay. If you buy them on your own, you're going to be paying $28 a piece for seven days' worth of travel. Finally, Mike is great about helping out. He met us at the apartment and gave us lots of good advice about where to go, where not to go, and how best to get there. He even took the time to write out three separate options, including which buses and which routes, for how to get from the airport to his apartment. The apartment is perfect. Everything is updated. The showers are all tiled and new and you can tell he spent some money on each one. The bedrooms are great and the living room couch is a Crate & Barrell pull-out, so you could technically sleep six adults. We used the pull out for the kids and they loved it. It has a full kitchen and we ended up hitting the Safeway a few blocks away and stocking up on some staple goods so we didn't have to eat out for every single meal. There is nothing cheap in San Francisco (unless you hit the Subway or McDonald's on the Embaradero) so for us, it was a great help to be able to make breakfast or cook a few meals to save money for the pigging out we did at the Wharf and all their seafood places. If you want to get the experience of what it's like to live in the community, still save money vs. hotel suites (especially for two couples or two families), Mike's apartment is the spot. If we every leave Ohio to come back, we will stay here again.

My wife, son, and I had a great time staying at the apartment. Everything in the apartment was new and current. Mike was very accommodating with our needs and did not intrude during our stay unless we had questions. The apartment was centrally located with cable cars and buses right outside the area. The clipper cards were definitely useful as SF is a walking and public transportation city. We would definitely rent here again if we were in town. The apartment can probably house 4 adults and 2 kids if necessary. Only issue we had was the cable TV was out due to digital upgrade. We did have access to Netflix streaming though so wasn't a total loss on entertainment.

My family stayed at this property for two weeks in July. We loved it so much that we are already in the process of making another booking for December (it is only August)! This property sits midway between Fisherman’s Wharf and Union Square. Almost all local attractions are within walking distance (or you can certainly take advantage of the famous cable car that has a stop just outside the front door). The apartment is very well equipped and maintained. Wi-Fi, full kitchen, new washer/dryer, transit passes and even the included Netflix were all very much enjoyed. This unit is in the back of the building. So, except for some noises from nearby construction sites occasionally, it is very quiet. It was wonderful to have a 2-bedroom-2-bath apartment in central San Francisco as the home base for our trip. It is much better than staying in a hotel, as we felt more like residents than tourists. If the unit is available for your schedule, book it as soon as you can. You are not going to regret it!!

We were happy with the apartment that slept 3 adults (2 bedrooms and 1 pull-out). Central address but no grocery store or liquor store nearby...Chinese store on Corner has yogurt...liquor store several blocks away. Wireless for Internet, new washer/dryer and food extras in apt., plus cable car passes for 2 were well-used. Stairs only: NO elevator. Appliances and dishes new; bathrooms, not bedrooms renovated. Owner gave us ideas as to where to eat and his number if we had an emergency. Arrived at 2:00 as planned but place was not all cleaned...that was done within a few hours...overall would recommend. Owner also got back to me online for payment arrangements and answers to questions. Owner may want to add some (?local) pictures to walls to complete updated look, as there is NO VIEW, but this also means no traffic noise.

Recommended for: Girls getaway, sightseeing, tourists without a car.

Owner response: We try to accommodate an early check in, but it also means the apartment may not be cleaned by the cleaning crew. The nearest liquor store is 2 blocks away.

Our stay was perfect. The apartment was impeccably clean, tidy, and quiet. It was such a luxury to have our own bedrooms and 2 bathrooms in central San Fran! It was an ideal location, next to China town and quick walk to Union square, and so easy to catch the cable car! The landlord made everything very easy, and was very accommodating to our needs. Would definitely stay again and highly recommend!
