My historic home was built 100 years ago and is fully and beautifully renovated. It's located just 1/2 mile from the heart of downtown Asheville. The house is uniquely situated: neighboring houses are quite a good distance away and there are lots of trees and greenery outside, so the setting is very natural, but still just a short walk to downtown.
THE SPACE You'll be renting the first floor of the home, a 900 square foot apartment. I live upstairs, and have a separate entrance.
Main living area: -800 square feet with an open, urban loft feel -sleek, uncluttered, minimalist decor -hardwood floors -queen size Tempur Pedic bed with very nice linens -comfy couch -lots of sunlight, trees and greenery all around - expanded cable TV
Kitchenette amenities: -microwave, toaster oven, small fridge -coffee maker, electric kettle -organic coffee and cream porvided -sink, counter top, small dining table -all utensils, ice bucket which I fill upon request
Bathroom: -full bath, clean, updated -plenty of nice towels provided -good water pressure - all water from sinks and shower is on a house filtration system: great for drinking, easy on you skin when bathing -blow dryer provided
Other Amenities: -large storage closet for your belongings -wireless internet -extremely quiet, efficient ductless central AC/heat -optional cozy gas log stove for winter
OUTSIDE: -private, sunny covered porch -street parking always readily available; no meters or other restrictions -an easy 1/2 mile walk to the heart of downtown -2 minute walk to the city's nicest tailgate farmers' market (Saturday mornings, April-November) - ** PLEASE NOTE: THE STAIRCASE FROM THE STREET UP TO THE APARTMENT ENTRANCE IS STEEP AND LONG SO PLEASE KEEP THIS IN MIND IF YOU HAVE PHYSICAL LIMITATIONS**. My main living quarters are not directly over the apartment, so you will not be disturbed by my presence. This house is very well built with thick walls and floors. (No creaking floors or loud footsteps overhead like in some downstairs units!).
THE NEIGHBORHOOD My downtown neighborhood has a strong sense of history and community. Very close to my house you will find historic churches, a community center, a park and an edible garden. My neighbors are a diverse mix of artists, young families and residents whose families have lived here for generations. Everyone is very friendly. While not fancy, this area of town is eclectic, lively and welcoming! All in all, this is the perfect spot for those who want to experience downtown Asheville within walking distance yet have serene, private accommodations to come home to. About the owner: I was born and raised in North Carolina and have lived in Asheville for nearly 20 years. After graduating from The Colorado College, I moved here to take a job in outdoor education, and I was so happy here that I stayed. I love the natural beauty of the mountains combined with the eclectic downtown scene. My career for the past 15 years has been in music, as a singer songwriter. I know a lot about what's going on musically in Asheville, so fee free to ask for suggestions. I have toured and performed all over the country, and I know what it's like to be a guest in someone's home. My style as a host is to be completely available if you need anything, but otherwise let you have total privacy.
I have really been enjoying managing this property and renting to short term guests, in fact it has become a second job for me. The apartment does not sit unattended; I am very conscientious about keeping it extremely clean and in good repair.
