- Coming south from Kona you will drive a 33 mile majestic drive through the coffee belt which is a great area to explore, tour, & stop to taste the 100% Kona Coffee. In Honaunau there is a National Park, Pu'uhonua O Honaunau which is a must see. Next to the Park is a great snorkel spot we call 'two step' where the turtles frequent. You can also visit Kealakekua Bay, home of Captain Cook's monument. A little more south is a gem called Hookena Beach. Head south of the home and visit South Point, or the Green Sand Beach. While down south, stop in Naalehu at the Punalu'u Bakery for a tasty treat. While at the home, take a epic hike out to Honomalino Bay for a peaceful day at the beach, with plenty of snorkeling, dolphins, and plenty of palms for shade....moreless

We weren't really sure where to stay when we planned this trip, but we were very satisfied with this home and the location. We wanted to be away from the crowds and wanted a more rural environment and this is exactly what we got. We were able to get to Volcanoes National Park quicker than if we stayed in Kona. And the home....wow it was so much more than we expected. It is much nicer then the photos. The home was clean and had everything we needed and more. The home gets great breezes that really cooled the home in the evening. We saw the most amazing sunsets from the lanai. The pool is great on those hot days and offers a really nice deck area for soaking up the rays. We took the advice of the owners and went out to Honomalino beach and we are so glad we did. Also tried a few of the restaurants the owners suggested and really enjoyed them. Be ready to drive...they don't call it the big island for nothing, everything is a drive so plan accordingly. We would highly recommend this home to our friends and family.

AWESOME HOME IN A GREAT LOCATION
AWESOME HOME IN A GREAT LOCATION
We are so glad we chose this home to spend our vacation. It was the perfect fit for our family. First of all, it was a great location. It was on a private road with very little traffic. The home has expansive views allowing us to see Kona and we even saw Maui. The breezes were perfect to cool off the home in the evening, and the star filled skies were amazing. The home had more amenities than my home has. The kitchen had every appliance you could need and there was even condiments for us. My son loved the basketball hoop and my daughter loved the playground with a slide and swings. The home was nicely landscaped with plenty of tropical foliage. The pool was great for cooling off on the days we just hung out. We hiked out to Honomalino Beach at the bottom of Milolii and had the beach all to ourselves. There was good snorkeling there and we even saw dolphins in the bay. The house is very nice and we were very comfortable during our stay. The owners Albert & Marsal were very helpful with the questions we had and gave us some great tips for local restaurants and activities. We will be staying here again.

Amazing home with a beautiful view!
Amazing home with a beautiful view!
Since this was our first experience using VRBO (actually our first vacation home rental), we were skeptical and a little hesitant. But from the first time we contacted the owners, Albert and Marsal Vanetti, we felt reassured that we had made the right decision. The owners were quick to respond to our every inquiry in a friendly manner. We rejected another rental because the owner's response was just the opposite (delayed, unfriendly...where's the Aloha spirit?) There was plenty of Aloha spirit with the rental process of the Pineapple Palace! We are a senior couple traveling with our son and daughter-in-law and granddaughter (age 21 months). Because of the baby, we had safety concerns (pool, stairs) and practical concerns (high chair, baby bed). The owners have two young children of their own, so they had those items and so much more... children's toys, books, even a playground! The house is even more awesome than described. The pictures don't do it justice. There are no pictures of bedrooms #2 and 3, but they're lovely, as well. And all the bedrooms, with the exception of the loft, are downstairs. That's a plus when you have "senior" knees! The kitchen is lovely and very well-equipped. Every appliance, large and small, is available, as well as cooking supplies, pantry items, dishes, utensils, etc. The washer and fryer are a big plus, too. The only thing we missed at times was air conditioning, as the house got pretty hot when it had been closed up. But once we got "home" and opened up windows on all sides of the house, the trade winds and multiple ceiling fans helped with the cooling. The pool was nice and in its own locked area. The deck, which runs entirely around the house and is child-friendly, is beautiful. We spent many hours sitting on the deck, watching the tiny fishing village of Milolii and the beautiful sunsets. This is a lovely place to stay if you want a midway point between Kona and Hilo. It's a drive to get to any restaurants or stores (Ocean View to the south or Captain Cook or Kona to the north), so don't expect a lot of activity in this area. But isn't that the point of vacationing in paradise?
