South Capitol house description
Casa Carolina is a wonderful, true adobe house with three bedrooms and two baths. It was built in the early 1950s and renovated over the course of the last 17 years with tender loving care and much attention to detail. There is always something new happening and is definitely staying current.
You enter the house and are immediately wowed with the open detail of the adobe banco framing the large inviting living room, trimmed with posts and corbels. The soothing buckskin blush plaster finish, that is the traditional style in Santa Fe, softly covers the walls. The house features pine floors with post, beam and corbel details throughout.
Again, framing the opening to the dining room more post and corbel detailing. The dining room adjoins the living room and has a table that extends to easily accommodate ten. Glass doors open from the dining room to a lovely covered portal and yet another dining choice for those lovely cool nights.
The kitchen is a large, tiled, family style one that opens to the delightful, walled patio complete with a charcoal grill. At one side of the kitchen is a sitting area with a loveseat and a reclining easy chair. Barstools sit next to the bar across from the kitchen sink. There is a flat screen television for this area that can be viewed from the kitchen, so the cook doesn't miss a thing.
The principal bathroom is completely renovated and has a very ample shower and a flagstone bench seat. It also has two separate showerheads! This bathroom also boasts a bidet!
The master bedroom has a new queen size bed and a full length mirror behind the door. Another, very comfy queen is in the second bedroom and full size bed in the third. There is a bathtub in the charming, coved ceiling second bathroom and has antique tile adorning the floor.
You would never know that you were in the very heart of Santa Fe! There is a feeling of country in this spacious home tucked inside a walled property that sits on one half acre! Needless to say there is plenty of parking inside the gate.
The plaza is only one mile north, a lovely walk through the historic South Capital neighborhood. Should you desire to live like a native you could take your morning jog around the quaint rose garden park just out the back door and a few yards away! Then enjoy some breakfast burritos and a café con leche at the Santa Fe Baking Co (a very popular and yummy local spot) just two or three minutes down the street. The museums are a short distance east, five or so minutes by car and canyon road is a hop skip and a jump away.
In short Casa Carolina is an ideal location and comfort zone for a perfect stay in Santa Fe!

Perfect Dwelling in the City Diferent
Perfect Dwelling in the City Diferent
We have recently returned from a fabulous five month stay in Casa Carolina, Santa Fe. From the moment we stepped foot in the Casa, any misgivings we may have had were quickly put to rest. Everything we had read, seen and heard about the house was proved true. The house is spacious enough for entertaining, and accommodating a large family while, at the same time, intimate enough for quiet moments alone or cozy conversations. In fact, the house has been so carefully furnished there are numerous seating options to please even the fussiest of families. The sheltered porch, and the enclosed patio allow a sense of privacy in the heart of the City Different. The location is perfect, and you can literally get anywhere from here! The owner, Carol, is a delight and an artist in her own right (evidence of which can be found throughout the house). If we had reason to think of anything that we might need, Carol had already preempted us and a solution was provided even before the thought was fully established. We cannot recommend Casa Carolina highly enough. We made many lovely memories here, and cannot wait to return.

I miss Casa Carolina
I miss Casa Carolina
We stayed at Casa Carolina about a month. I really miss it. It was perfect! The Casita (different than most) is huge and the ceilings are tall but everything is still very Southwest in feeling. The remodeling of the original adobe has been done to perfection. The kitchen has all you need and the sitting area near it is so useful. The bed's comfortable. The decor is lovely without being cutsey. The 2 porches are a pleasure, that move the outdoors in. Very private. The landlord (on the property) is invisible except when needed. She even did our laundry when the washer failed to drain and bought a new washer right away! She is a lovely person and can add so much knowledge about Santa Fe if you need it. Plenty of safe parking. Located near a lovely pool and rec center. A long walk to Santa Fe Plaza but a pretty one. And there are several restaurants near by and groceries. I would go back and often. Thank you

Casa Carolina was absolutely wonderful. It was the perfect spot for our family Christmas gathering. It is clean, very pretty and close to anything we needed. The 6 of us had plenty of room; the house is so comfortable. We like to cook and bake and the kitchen is well stocked for it. Carol, the owner, was a delight to deal with - prompt, informative and very helpful. We are looking forward to a return visit in the future. Rent this place. You'll be glad you did.

Casa Carolina was a delight. Great location and wonderful for entertaining. We had 14 people for dinner one night. It was very spacious and had 2 patios in which to entertain. I would stay at this locationa again. Carol, the Manager was always very prompt in returning any questions we had about the home. Close to Trader Joe's, Whole Foods, etc. Only a few minutes from the plaza.
