Our large home close to all of San Miguel's many activities, has a lovely separate and very private casita on two floors with the bedroom (queen sized bed) and bathroom on the main and the kitchen and sitting area upstairs overlooking the surrounding gardens and the lovely plunge pool which guests are welcome to use. All linens (Egyptian cotton and silk), dishes, etc. are provided so all you need bring are a few clothes. (Bring a few casual clothes and a good pair of walking shoes. You won't need all that other stuff.) There is a laundromat a few doors away where you can drop your clothes off in the morning and they will be washed and folded for you by the afternoon. If you have been to San Miguel before, you know it is in the central Mexican mountains (not the Rockies but pretty steep hills). The nice thing about our casita is it is not on an incline so you can relax and leave your pitons at home. We are half a block from Insurgentes, a main street of downtown near the biblioteca, a local gathering place, but we are off the busy roadways so it is extremely tranquil, a world away yet only a few steps to everything. There are dozens of great restaurants within a block and many more if you want to walk a bit further. San Miguel is a place for walking although you must keep your eyes on the ground because cobble stones and uneven pavement are the rule. Forget wearing heels although I am amazed that the young Mexican girls have no trouble on four inch stilettos. Carlos at Cafe Buen Dia who makes the best cappuccino in the world (this has been confirmed by countless consumers) is an easy morning stroll away but there is a coffee maker in the casita if you prefer. All utilities are included in the rental price as is our wonderful cleaning woman who does basic cleaning once a week. You have to do the rest yourself but that's as it should be. It's not healthy to be too lazy or entitled. Still, the life style here in San Miguel is perfect. It is not unusual for visitors to come for a week and stay for a lifetime. My husband and I reside in the main house most of the year where we can be called upon to meet any requests you might have, but when we are away there is a property manager readily available. The gardener comes once a week and the pool guy comes a couple of times a month. Other than that, you have perfect privacy should you choose, or you can walk out the front gate and be welcomed into a community of warm, fascinating people in a magical part of the world.

About the owner: My husband and I are Canadians from Victoria, British Columbia. I am a retired teacher who has become a writer and my husband is a land surveyor who never intends to fully retire, or so he says.
Why the Owner Chose Centro: Organos is a street of warm neighbours, both Mexican and non Mexican and is close to everything but just far enough away to be an oasis of calm. We're here if you need us but not in your way if you don't.
