Great property, offering privacy and convenient location, although a car is necessary. Comfortable and clean and fairly consistent with the description in the listing. Room included a refrigerator, toaster, coffee maker with coffee and tea. Only complaint is that there was no means of heating water, such as an electric kettle or microwave. Other than that, we were very happy with the property and found the owner helpful, friendly, and allowed us privacy in coming and going. Would definitely recommend this property to anyone interested in a quiet location near both city and beaches with easy access to highways.

Great alternative to Wikiki
Great alternative to Wikiki
We stayed here in June for a few days of attending a conference at the University and then several days of family vacation—the unit worked out very well for both purposes! We needed good access to both the campus and to Wikiki where friends were staying, but, although we love Hawaii, we’re no fans of Wikiki. This location was perfect, just a short drive away in a very attractive residential neighbourhood and a short walk to a nice local beach park. The house is an attractive classic Hawaii bungalow. The room is not fancy or large, but served our purposes nicely. Katrina was a great hostess. It had the feeling of being welcome guests in a nice Hawaiian home. Good choice for a single or couple who like to explore the island by car, but would rather avoid Wikiki.

I just got back from Hawaii where I spent 12 days on my honeymoon. We were looking for a quiet place with an easy access to the beach. And it was exactly what we were looking for. Great for having a nice afternoon on a small beach and even having a walk by night. The house is very close to Kahala mall where we found great food and many organic stuff. Katrina, the owner, was so available for us and we thank you for that and for your precious advice. She knows the island so well that I didn't need to google anything, just popped up every time I needed anything. Her door is literally always open. The suite was really nice and so nicely furnished. We wanted something simple. The bed was sooo comfortable (which is very important when you come to have a good rest after a year without vacation). I had more than I expected. Thanks so much :)

Great stay at Kahala
Great stay at Kahala
Kahala B&B will be an good option for those who look for quietness but at times seek for some tourist excitement at Waikiki (as it's very close-10mins drive). The host Katrina had been very helpful on making our stay as comfortable as possible. Nice location to the Kahala beach park and Kahala Mall, safe neighborhood, and also quiet at night. The room has fans around but without A/C, may heat up in the middle of the day during summers but if you are coming for vacation and leave early and come back in the evening, not a big deal as the temperature drops when sun goes down. In general a great stay and vacation with my wife and kid. We enjoyed a lot on the hospitality; the banana cake and fruits that the host prepared on the first day of arrival were wonderful.

Nice Vacation Rental
Nice Vacation Rental
I visited family over the summer and I am very happy to have found this rental. Over the past years, we got to know many places in this price range (and above!), and I would rate them all as poor to fair at best. This studio, however, is clean and well maintained, the description and photos are accurate. The owner is very friendly and helpful. I would absolutely recommend this rental to friends and relatives.

The accommodation was neat, clean, and compact and its location near my family made it convenient. But it was a bit too homey; I would say the attitude toward operating a rental was a bit slapdash. Major negative: I had neglected to notice in the listing that it had no air conditioning, and in August the Honolulu heat and humidity are intense. The hostess provided a large fan, but I really struggled with the heat at night and when blowing my hair dry in the morning. The bathroom was not stocked when I arrived: I had to ask for TP and had to go out and buy shampoo. The door to the unit locked from the inside but not from the outside, so I had to leave it unlocked when I left each day; and the curtains did not close adequately, so there was little privacy when I was inside. Breakfast was provided the first morning but not the other two. Unfortunately, I can't recommend this rental.

Owner response: Actually I learned a lot from this review. Feedback is healthy. Feeling secure and private is primary and a lock was added to the outside portion of the suite door. Our property is very secure (locked front gate and dogs on guard), but that was a great tip. The suite has an overhead fan above the bed for comfort and we added a powerful stand up fan with remote. It is definitely very warm in Honolulu in August especially mid-Summer and mid-day -- but cool at night. With the trades, fans and windows on two sides of the suite it is very comfortable, but the suite does not offer a/c. As in the advertisement, breakfast is provided the first day and subsequently upon request. We take a lot of pride in service but of course have made mistakes. Normally at check-in the room is fully stocked with many extra items for the convenience of guests (cooler, maps, sunscreen & aloe, first aid, bug spray, ear plugs, dishes, cutting knife and cutting board, coffee and tea service, breakfast for the first morning, full size shampoo and conditioner and Dove soap). But it is true that at check-in for this guest we noticed together that I had forgotten to load the TP. As hosts we are accessible throughout the stay and offer additional cleaning or cleaning supplies and laundry access at no charge. We hope to fulfill the vacation needs and expectations of every guest, and will try even harder. Thanks for the feedback, it is appreciated.

About the owner: Hello I am a professional working to improve sustainability in the fishing and seafood industry.
Why the Owner Chose Kahala:
Unrivaled location for work and play. Couldn't be closer to the amenities, town life & Waikiki. We walk our kayak down to the beach or I can cast off with a friend on a stand up surfboard and cruise downwind to Waikiki. The dogs get to swim every day - twice! The Kahala is a grand old style hotel and resort with a great open air bar area - what a treat to have a great place to stroll for an evening right around the corner - and you can walk most of the way on the beach.
The Unique Benefits at this Bed And Breakfast:
This is one of the very few great examples I've seen of an updated traditional Hawaiian style island home. The landscaped yard is tropical and private. Enjoy coffee and the paper under the ulu tree.
