Pantheon apartment description
This lovely apartment is located at the first floor of a very ancient building in a fantastic location in the heart of rome just behind one of the oldest roman construction:the pantheon, which means temple of all gods. The apartment was completely refurbished in 2013 and features a perfect balance between the antique and the modern. The original tiled floors, the exposed roof beams and the exposed brick walls give the property a warm and cosy feel. The entrance opens into a short hallway that leads to the spacious living room featuring a double bed, an lcd television,a wifi connection, a table and chairs, and a romantic decorative fireplace. Here you can unwind after a busy day of sightseeing. The kitchenette is slightly separated and comes well-equipped. The bedroom has a double bed, a wardrobe and an antique mirror. The bathroom is decorated with black and white mosaic tiles and is equipped with a box shower.

Upon arrival we were advised of a problem with the electricity and that we may not be able to use the washer until the electrician came the following day. Since we were on the second of a four city trip this was okay with us as long as we could use before we left Rome. Giulia showed us the breakers and introduced us to the building porter in case we had a problem. After we paid Giulia we discovered no toilet paper was to be found so we ventured out to buy some food and tp to get us through the week. We discovered a smell in the washer was from water that was sitting in it so we ran it to clear the water from the washer as it was quite smelly. This worked well in our absence although the breaker did go it was an easy fix. After being lost several times our adventure to a store was successful and back to the apartment to unpack our groceries only to discover the fridge had not been cleared or wiped out in recent weeks. After a brief wipe down we added our food and began to discover other areas of cleanliness were lacking, there were dirty glasses in the bathroom, the stove and sink had not been wiped, the floors were full of dust bunnies and our feet were black! We were frustrated but willing to make it work. Upon arrival back from dinner we attempted to boil water (in a pot, no kettle) and the power to go out again. This time we found both breakers on but still had no power. It seems there was another panel that no one advised us about so our first night in Rome was spent with the lights from our phone and computer. After reaching Giulia and conversing for until 1 am we requested our money back. The best thing for us was to be reimbursed although a bit disappointing to be charged a single night + 4 nights of city tax! This could be a great apartment as the area is fantastic, it just needs a some upkeep and a good cleaning! I hope your experience is better then ours as losing a day looking and moving to new lodgings when you only have 4 days was very disappointing.

Manager response: We had been advised of an elctrical problem from the guest leaving on the day the new guests arrived. We asked an electrician to come to the apartment and check the issue. Guests have been informed consequently upon their arrival and the day after the electrician came and fixed it. It was a problem with a security valve which was too sensible and switched continuously off the system. About the cleanliness I can only say that our usual cleaning lady was not available for 10 days and the one, who was replacing her, was clearly not up to the task. We are very sorry for the mishap, the guests have got full assistance in this matter from our side.

I was really impressed by the fact that the house has been built between original Roman walls, which is shown at the apartment's entrance
